Yesterday, Keivon Greene pled guilty for a fatal shooting that occurred outside an auto shop operating as an illegal after-hours nightclub that left three dead and nine others injured on June 25, 2023. 🧵

Robert Spears, the third co-defendant, is scheduled for trial on October 26, 2026. He is currently charged with 2nd Degree Accessory to Murder, three counts of ACA, Accessory to Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and 1st Degree Accessory to Assault.

Two co-defendants convicted in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on August 17, 2024 that left one person dead and another injured have been sentenced. A third co-defendant remains scheduled for trial. 🧵

Leaders in positions of authority have a duty to protect those in their care. Those who are incarcerated also deserve dignity and proper medical care. My office will always stand up for the vulnerable and voiceless, and those who cannot advocate for themselves.

IPVI is a focused, coordinated effort to identify the most dangerous intimate partner violence offenders and those at-risk of escalation, intervene before violence escalates, and hold perpetrators accountable at every level.

According to the CDC, 55% of homicides with female victims are connected to intimate partner violence. We’re working with the City, KCPD, and our community service providers to prevent cycles of violence and launch the Intimate Partner Violence Intervention (IPVI) Program.

Homicides in Central and Metro Patrol divisions are up significantly, and those neighborhoods deserve the same safety as everyone else. We’re working with law enforcement partners every day to ensure every corner of our community sees progress.

Our office charged Demario McGee in connection with a fatal shooting that took place in south KC yesterday. He faces 2nd Degree Murder, 2 counts of Armed Criminal Action, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. A Jackson County judge set the defendant’s bond to $250,000 cash only.
