I’m very introverted. I prefer silence and my own company. I generally prefer one on one interactions with other people—they enervate me rather than energize. I’ve been stuck in a hospital since March and so I have had to endure a noisy environment, and a near constant audio drip of conversations about the minutiae of their lives. At times it is like water torture. I bought a pair of Apple AirPods 3 Pro. Salvation! The noise cancellation is about 98% effective (certain sharp sounds make it through but much reduced in volume). The battery lasts almost all night so I can sleep through disturbances in the room. Great product from @Apple.

@romepix Yes sometime late in March is my date, and it happens whether I consciously remember the actual date or not. Years later I’m still in grief and mourning. At least the date was close to her birthday so it’s just a bad couple of weeks for me instead of twice a year.

I can attest to this. May 2026 is the 8th death anniversary in my life and I've done a tremendous amount of healing and I still have this happen. My bf just surprised me he's flying in the night of the anniversary and will stay with me for 15 days. It's set me at better ease.

I’m currently stuck in a hospital and one of my roommates plays CBC radio all day. The amount of anti-American propaganda woven into almost every other news item is unbelievable. Canadians believe they are nicer, or generous, more tolerant than their American cousins, which in my experience is not even true.

@Brittan96355048 My whole family are Liberals - always have been. My first time voting I was living away at University, and I gave my first vote to Joe Clark. He swiftly got defeated in a no confidence vote but I believe in my heart that it was the correct and sane choice.

Okay story time! One day my mama called me asked me if I wanted to get out of the house for a bit and go with her to vote and I said sure so she picked me up we went to our mailbox to grab her voter card and she said to me their is one in here for you! I said oh really cool! So we went to our polling station and she explained to me what I was gonna do because I have never done it before so she was explaining all of this to me and I was trying to remember the steps on what to do so I sit down give my voter card then I go to fill out the ballot and I was shaky just from the excitement from taking part in changing things in Alberta! After I finished i got the thumbs up from many people as we told them it was my first time voting in an election! I remember the feeling of pure excitement knowing I got to be part of change as I walked out of the polling station I could feel myself beaming my smile was so big! It was super cool having my mama there with me! I voted for Jason Kenny and I was darn proud that night when he won because I knew my voted made a difference! Then Covid happened and I was seeing all that was going on in the world and here at home in our province! When pastors were being arrested for giving people hope and a sense of normalcy when the world felt so uncertain that was it for me I couldn't support him any longer! Between pastors being arrested and then when I did my own research on the vaccine and decided for me I didn't want it and then by making that choice I had to be not included in things such as going to eat in restaurants or seeing people I love! But thankfully for me I am blessed with incredibly supportive people in my life who respected my wishes! If you read this whole post I hope you enjoyed hearing about my first ever voting experience

@BigJoeBastardi In my experience people on the right post almost as much nonsense as people on the left. What is important is self correction and honest self assessment. Rely on fundamental principles instead of fluid ideas and ideologies and you will be on much more solid ground.
