Winnipeg, we need to talk about impaired driving. Our Checkstop Enforcement teams had an alarming week – and not for the right reasons. Here’s what they encountered: •35 impaired drivers. Yes, you read that right. Thirty-five. Even one is too many. •Two drivers were found passed out behind the wheel. •One driver continued driving after sideswiping multiple parked vehicles. •Another tested positive for cocaine. •Most disturbingly, one impaired driver had a 5-year-old child in the backseat. This isn’t just a safety concern; it’s a call to action. We must do better, Winnipeg. Plan ahead. Arrange a safe ride home. Never, ever drive impaired. During the public works meeting @JaniceLukes is asking about how much longer it will take to travel all of wellington crescent at 50 vs 30, and there are varying replies, I would encourage you to make the trip yourself and time it. As your average speed is usually not the limit.

@jetsinovertime @wpgpolice 100% agree the ‘existing’ cameras don’t work. Old old technology.

@JaniceLukes @wpgpolice Janice I drive to work every day at 2:15 am 22 km through the city and 98% of it over speed limit. I know the cameras are and slow down to acceptable speeds so camera doesn’t activate and I’m STILL speeding I.E. 59 in a 50. Iassure you these cameras DO NOT control speeds.

Excellent work @wpgpolice BUT we know cities worldwide use technology/photo radar 2 effectively control speed. So police can be deployed elsewhere Wpg NEEDS an updated modernized photo radar program - I believe/hope/pray Province is reviewing the outdated model ! #SpeedKills
