: : Key Players of Interest to Research within the Solana Ecosystem After Breakpoint, my feed has been filled with news about Solana. I believe this isn’t just a result of a biased algorithm but reflects the genuinely strong narrative around Solana in CT. I'm not particularly fond of general conferences with vague themes, as the content presented by various protocols often feels more like marketing than showcasing new features. However, Breakpoint was different—each seemed to have put a lot of effort into preparing for the event. I could genuinely feel the enthusiasm as all ecosystem players aligned with Solana's overarching vision, passionately pitching their new features and fostering collaboration. As a researcher, my initiatives to contribute to the Solana ecosystem moving forward will be: 1) deriving insights from various initiatives on the Solana network (e.g., Token Extension, Mobile, Payment, etc.), and 2) specifically highlighting each of key players that will drive the future of the Solana ecosystem. The research areas (or teams) I plan to focus on, or the protocols I hope to continue collaborating with, are as follows: 1. Infrastructure & Development Tools Squads @multisig is a custody layer solution that enables safer asset management and operation, providing standards for various smart accounts, including asset management, permission settings, and multi-signature. Pyth Network @PythNetwork is an oracle network providing real-time primary financial market data essential for DeFi services on the blockchain. It recently announced that it will introduce an Oracle Integrity Staking (OIS) delegation mechanism, which will reward Pyth stakers while enabling the network to secure high-quality data from publishers for DeFi projects. Metaplex @metaplex is a representative library that provides various tools/standards for creating / managing digital assets in the Solana Ecosystem. The team recently launched an indexing and data availability network called Aura Network - this network allows users not only to easily store and retrieve data, but also to flexibly manage the state within the Solana and SVM ecosystems, and perform multi-program consistent indexing via the enhanced Digital Asset Standard (DAS) API. Usecases for ZK Compression ZK Compression, currently being developed by the @LightProtocol and @heliuslabs teams, is a technology that combines zero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs) with state compression, which reduces the size of states. This technology aims to drastically reduce the operational costs of data and accounts on the Solana network and create an environment where more complex ZK-friendly applications, such as identity verification protocols, can be developed. The Helius team recently announced AirShip, a large-scale airdrop tool powered by ZK Compression. SVM Support/Leverage Projects ( @soon_svm , @EclipseFND , @Terminaxyz , etc ) As Solana's SVM demonstrates superior transaction processing capabilities compared to other mainnets, more and more projects are emerging with the desire to build their own ecosystems based on the SVM execution environment, without needing to share composability, ledger data, or other infrastructure components of the Solana network. Infrastructure that leverages/supports SVM will be key cases to demonstrate whether SVM can position itself as a competitive VM in the market dynamics. Tinydancer The Solana network lacks a light client feature that allows for state validation without running a full node, limiting its validation capabilities. To address this, @tinydancerio , a light client under development, enables transaction verification at a low cost without downloading the entire block or executing transactions. It alerts the full node it depends on when suspicious transactions are detected. Verifiable Computing ( @arcium , @Bonsolsh ) Verifiable Compute (VC) allows specific workloads to generate proofs of execution that can be publicly verified without rerunning the computation - a key practical application with this is that it helps developers mitigate the rising costs of on-chain product logic by moving computations off-chain. In other words, by using VC, one can quickly and efficiently implement applications that require complex logic, such as Oracle, Lending, RWA, etc. It also allows you to implement business logic while keeping certain critical information hidden. Payments( @sphere_labs , @getcode , @TipLinkOfficial , @helio_pay , etc) Solana has established itself as the most suitable blockchain for the crypto payment sector, thanks to its parallel processing through multi-threading, fast transaction speeds, and low transaction costs. It is actively strengthening initiatives in this space (e.g., Token Extension, Blinks) to make blockchain transactions as intuitive and simple as credit card payments. Various payment-related projects are aligning with these initiatives by developing SDKs that allow end-users to easily make crypto payments across different contexts (i.e., web and mobile environments). 2. Finance & Consumer Applications ISC ISC (International Stable Currency, @ISC_money ) is a stablecoin project built on Solana, aiming to provide users with a stable, internationally recognized currency that can be used both online and offline. Unlike traditional stablecoins pegged to fiat currencies like the US dollar, ISC is linked to real assets such as commodities, bonds, and stocks, offering inflation-resistant characteristics. Perena @perena is building decentralized infrastructure for money on Solana. Perena aims to enhance the usability, liquidity, and rewards of stablecoins within DeFi, where its mission focuses on facilitating frictionless exchange of dollar-pegged assets and maximizing yield generation for idle stablecoin liquidity. Sky Ecosystem @SkyEcosystem , formerly known as MakerDAO, is a DeFi protocol planning to expand into the Solana DeFi ecosystem by integrating its USDS (stablecoin) and SKY (governance token) through Wormhole. Recently, they announced an incentive program aimed at bootstrapping and activating the Solana DeFi ecosystem, allocating 2 million SKY tokens per week. Magic Eden @MagicEden is the dominant NFT marketplace on Solana, and supports a multi-chain environment including Ethereum, Polygon, and Bitcoin Ordinals, offering launchpads for each project or BTC Inscriptions. The launch of the ME token, designed to support and encourage the trading of different assets across various chains, is scheduled in the near future. Tensor @tensor_hq is a NFT marketplace especially tailored for professional NFT traders on Solana, integrating AMM and marketplace functionalities. Users can access real-time data, candlestick-priced AMMs for NFTs, and employ various trading strategies, including mass acquisition, bidding, listing/delisting of NFTs. Recently, Tensor announced the full open-sourcing of its code, a grant program, a restructuring of its fee model, and the preview of a new product line called vector.fun. Sanctum @sanctumso is a solution that allows all Liquid Staking Tokens (LST) projects within the Solana ecosystem to share liquidity with each other, allowing for seamless interactions between each LST (e.g., zero slippage), or users can also earn revenue by supplying liquidity of a specific LST to the Sanctum Infinity pool. Sanctum is planning to add two more products related to PayFi - 1) Creator Coins, which will enable organizations and individuals to easily build, grow, and monetize their communities, and 2) Cloud Card, a card product line that allows users to utilize SOL and various stablecoins in over 100 countries. Jito @jito_labs not only powers the Jito-Solana client, which dominates the Solana MEV marketplace, but also leads the LST (Liquid Staking Token) market by running a Liquid Staking project (i.e., jitoSOL) that ensures the MEV share allocations can be distributed to stakers. In July, they released the code for their staking and restaking programs as a open-source, and also plans to apply a permissionless model to the operation of the JitoSOL pool via StakeNet. Fragmetric @fragmetric is the first liquid restaking protocol in the Solana ecosystem, aiming to enhance the liquidity and composability of staked assets. Its main product, fragSOL, is a Solana-native LRT (Liquid Restaking Token) based on Jito's Restaking Vault Receipt Token (VRT) system. Drift @DriftProtocol is a decentralized trading platform built on Solana, with its V2 upgrade focusing on improving order execution speed and market efficiency. Users can engage in various activities such as spot trading, perpetual trading, borrowing and lending, and passive liquidity provision in real-time updating markets. Recently, it also launched a prediction market called “BET”. Jupiter @JupiterExchange is the leading DEX Aggregator on Solana, providing the best and cheapest routes for trading on Solana. The platform primarily offers features such as limit orders, futures trading, dollar-cost averaging (DCA), fiat on-ramp, and bridging. In addition, Jupiter offers or plans to offer various features, such as - 'LFG Launchpad,' which has supported the launch of protocols like Sanctum, Zeus, and SharkyFi; 2) ‘Ape.Pro,’ a feature that simplifies the minting and trading of new tokens, as seen with Pump.fun; and 3) ‘easy on-ramp mobile integration’ through solutions like Apple Pay, credit cards, and Google Pay." FluxBeam & FluxBot @FluxBeamDEX is the DEX that supports trading of all types of Solana tokens, including SPL, SPL404, and SPL22. Users can perform token swaps, provide liquidity, and bridge assets as basic functions. In addition, FluxBeam offers token creation and management tools, enabling developers and users to easily handle tokens within the Solana ecosystem. It also provides a Telegram trading bot called FluxBot ( @Fluxbeam_bot ), which includes features like token sniping, copy trading, etc. Cube Exchange @cubexch is a leading hybrid decentralized exchange (HEX) that provides efficient, secure, and compliant trading experiences by leveraging Multi-Party Computation (MPC) technology to combine off-chain order matching with on-chain settlements. The team is planning to launch Isometric Network, an intent-based network, built upon the technology stack previously applied at Cube.Exchange (i.e., MPC, two-tiered validator consensus, multi-chain settlement, etc.). Seeker & Mobile Stack Solana Mobile Stack (SMS) is an open-source SDK that provides tools (e.g., Solana dApp Store, Mobile Wallet Adapter, Seed Vault, Solana Pay) for developing applications on mobile devices such as Saga and Seeker. Through the mobile devices, which have Solana’s various protocol-level technologies and ecosystem applications natively embedded, end users can enjoy a seamless and integrated on-chain experience. ORE @OREsupply is a proof-of-work (PoW) based digital currency within the Solana ecosystem, designed to ensure fair and accessible mining. 3.DePIN & AI WayFinder AI @AIWayfinder is a decentralized protocol of user-owned, autonomous AI agents that enables them to navigate and operate across on-chain applications and ecosystems. Grass @getgrass_io is a DePIN that aims to democratize AI model training through a distributed network of incentivized nodes that share unused bandwidth to collect and process web data. Grass desktop node is available for higher efficiency, and Solana wallet addresses have been integrated with users' Grass accounts, ensuring that rewards are distributed to nodes when their data is used for AI inference or training tasks. Privasea @Privasea_ai aims to encrypt and protect sensitive data by utilizing various Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) techniques. This professional research firm just explained why @CantonNetwork is so controversial. @FourPillarsFP, in its new research article 'Canton: The Most Institutional Blockchain, The Most Controversial Blockchain' has directly addressed the controversy surrounding Canton itself. Four Pillars claims that the crypto industry is effectively shaken by institutions' decision to pursue "selective disclosure and controlled consensus" through networks like Canton, rather than "permissionless open verification" - one of the core beliefs of OG crypto advocates. "Canton does not operate like @Ethereum or @Solana, where all transactions are public and all validators verify the same global state. Canton's contracts are disclosed only to relevant parties" In short, it is $CC's success among major institutions, despite its lack of conformity to the 'blockchain dream', that has many in the ecosystem up in arms.
