I appreciated meeting with PORAC to discuss the health and childcare challenges facing law enforcement officers and their families. The men and women who keep our community safe deserve access to the support, care, and resources they need both on and off the job.

I enjoyed meeting with Joe Zumkehr, President of AFGE Local 4070, to discuss the mental health challenges facing first responders. These men and women experience many difficult situations in the line of duty, and we must do more to ensure they have the support and resources they need to stay healthy and continue serving our community.

This week I supported the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act, which funds critical military construction, family housing, and quality of life improvements for our servicemembers and their families. This bill also strengthens support for veterans by funding the health care, benefits, education assistance, home loans, and other services they've earned through their service. I was also proud to support important infrastructure improvements at Edwards Air Force Base and advance efforts focused on reducing the burden of chronic liver disease among veterans.

On Armed Forces Day, we honor the men and women serving in the United States military. Their courage, sacrifice, and commitment to defending our nation make America stronger and safer.

General Atomics is driving innovation that strengthens our military and creates high quality jobs right here in the High Desert. It was inspiring to visit their Adelanto facility and see firsthand how advanced technology and manufacturing are both supporting our national security and growing our local economy.

Metastatic breast cancer impacts thousands of families across our country, and patients deserve access to the care and treatment they need. I am proud to cosponsor the Metastatic Breast Cancer Access to Care Act and grateful to stand along survivors like Lori who inspire so many with their strength and courage!

I was honored to join Fire Chief Peratt and the Apple Valley Fire Protection District in celebrating 75 years of service to our community! Thank you to all the firefighters and first responders who have dedicated themselves to protecting and serving the High Desert for generations.

I appreciated visiting the Apple Valley San Bernardino County Sheriff’s patrol station with Captain Visosky, Mayor Nassif, and Councilwoman Leon. It was valuable to meet with local law enforcement, tour the facility, and discuss the work being done to keep our community safe. I am grateful for the men and women in uniform who serve with professionalism, courage, and dedication every single day!

During National Police Week, we honor the brave men and women of law enforcement who put their lives on the line to keep our community safe. We also remember the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty and pray for their families.

California failed to repay its COVID-era unemployment debt, and now small businesses are being forced to pay nearly 9 times as much in tax as businesses in other states. Small businesses are the backbone of our High Desert Community, and it was inspiring to tour Mojave Printing Solutions during Small Business Week with owner Sam Pulice. Thank you for the work you do creating jobs, serving the community, and helping our local economy grow!

It was a pleasure to meet with California State Senator Suzette Valladeres during her recent visit to Washington, D.C. We had a productive discussion on both the challenges and opportunities facing our High Desert community. I look forward to our continued partnership in serving Californians on both the state and federal levels.

I was pleased to vote in favor of the 2026 Farm Bill when it passed the House this week. This legislation delivers critical support for farmers, ranchers, and rural communities across our country while also strengthening agricultural innovation. Quantum technology will transform how we solve complex challenges and strengthen our national security and economy. I was proud to help advance two amendments during committee markup of the National Quantum Initiative Reauthorization to expand regional innovation and accelerate real-world quantum applications through public private partnerships. These efforts will help ensure America leads not just in developing quantum technology but in putting it to work for the American people.

This week, I questioned witnesses at a hearing on food safety, focusing on how we can ensure safe, reliable food for every American. A patchwork of different state labeling rules creates confusion for consumers and challenges for producers across state lines. We need clear, science-based standards and better coordination to keep families safe.

I was glad to support the Harnessing Energy at Thermal Sources Act when it passed the House. This bill will unlock more of America’s geothermal potential, especially right here in California!
