We caught up with Head Coach Chris Gerber following Northern Oklahoma College - Enid’s upset victory over Chipola to advance to the Elite 8. After already securing a win here at Hutch, his group came out confident and in control from the jump — setting the tone and never looking back. Coach Gerber spoke on the confidence his team is playing with, the emotions after another statement win on this stage, and the message to the team prior to the game.

We caught up with Head Coach Steve DeMeo ahead of Northwest Florida State’s matchup with Vincennes. With everything on the line, DeMeo broke down the keys to the game, what his group needs to execute at a high level, and how experience on this stage plays a factor heading into tonight’s battle.

We caught up with Head Coach Jerry Nichols of Walters State following their win over Midland College. With four players in double figures — led by Jamar Livingston (19), Taquez Butler (17), Carter Webb (17), and Brian Carter (12) — Coach Nichols broke down what opened up offensively and how their balance created winning basketball. Put some respect on their name. Walters State continues to prove they belong on this stage. Coach Nichols also shared the message in the locker room as his group moves to 2–0 at the national tournament and prepares for the Elite 8.

Butler’s Tristan Hankins put together a dominant performance at Hutch, finishing with 21 points, 11 boards, 5 assists, and 4 steals in a win over Snow College. Hankins impacted the game on every level, controlling the glass, facilitating, and making plays defensively to help Butler secure the win on the national stage. Gulf Coast State’s Devontes Cobbs is off to a hot start at Hutch, leading his team to two wins while averaging 17.5 points, 4 boards, and 1.5 assists across his first two games. He dropped 18 points, 4 boards, and 2 assists against Brunswick, followed by 17 points, 4 boards, and 1 assist against Indian Hills. Cobbs has been consistent on both ends early in the tournament, producing at a high level and helping Gulf Coast State stack wins on the national stage. We caught up with Head Coach Greg Heiar of Trinity Valley, the defending champions, following their overtime win over Monroe College to advance. In a game that turned into a fight, Trinity Valley had five players in double figures and stayed composed when it mattered most — highlighted by Armani Henderson’s back-to-back buckets to force overtime. Coach Heiar broke down how his group maintained their composure, the importance of balanced scoring in a game like this, and the message to his team in the locker room as they prepare for what’s next.

Breaking: 6’4 guard Jalen Lyn of College of Southern Idaho has officially reopened his recruitment and is requesting his release from Middle Tennessee. Coming off a strong performance of 23 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals while shooting 6 for 17 from the field in a 73–66 victory to advance CSI. JC: 6’0 freshman guard Ace Reiser of College of Southern Idaho came up clutch with 28 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists, shooting 6 for 9 from beyond the arc and 9 for 14 from the field in a 73–66 victory. CSI advances.

JC: 6’4 sophomore guard Braylon Roman of Northwest Florida State, a Revocruit Powered JUCO, delivered a strong 26-point performance, shooting 2 for 3 from beyond the arc and 11 for 17 from the field in an 83–75 victory to advance the Raiders. Caught up with @NMJC_MBB Head Coach @lukevmackay after their first round win at Hutch. “We just did what we’ve done all year… guys didn’t change on the big stage.” On R.J.
