An open letter to @ICC @JayShah @BCCI @lonsaikia
Respected leaders,
India is hosting the Women's World Cup after 12 years. The last time we did, women's cricket was nowhere near where it is today—thanks to the efforts of ICC and BCCI, especially post-2017.
A lot has changed, and you are the reason for that change:
- 86,000+ fans packed the MCG for the Aus vs. Ind final in 2020.
- The WPL is massive—and "massive" is an understatement.
- Pay parity is now a reality in most countries.
- Players have become brands.
...and much more.
When England hosted the World Cup, Lord's staged the final—the change began.
When Australia hosted it, 86,000 filled the MCG.
When South Africa hosted it, Cape Town delivered a packed final.
So when India hosts the World Cup, shouldn’t the finals be in Mumbai, Bengaluru, or Kolkata?
You've done an incredible job elevating international women's cricket and the WPL.
The venues that have proven their potential—drawing crowds for the WPL and international games—are Mumbai, Bengaluru, Surat, Vadodara, Delhi, and Chennai.
Add Kolkata or Hyderabad, and you won’t be disappointed.
Yet, the currently selected World Cup venues? Four have never hosted a women’s game, and Vizag last did in 2014.
While rain and climate are considerations, a country like India—with its vast selection of stadiums—deserves better.
If we had to pick five venues, our request is:
✅ Mumbai (DY Patil or Wankhede)
✅ Bengaluru
✅ Vadodara/Surat
✅ Delhi
✅ Chennai/Kolkata
This will guarantee a blockbuster tournament.
Please don’t treat this World Cup as an afterthought. Make it grand. You have our full support.
And if I can help in any way, I’d be honored to do so.
Regards,
An ardent women's cricket fan

Jemimah spoke about working on her pull shots and accessing the leg side with more diversity of shots than just the sweep. The result is there for everyone to see. Love just how (relatively) transparent and articulate she is about her game.
