Arkansas rice acres estimated to fall to 1 million for 2026 (900k long grain & 100k medium grain) per NASS survey estimates. My expectation - total AR rice acres will come in about 850k total when the dust settles this year.

@JoeWChristian That’s the fear right now! But if we don’t get some rain soon we’ve got other problems.

@JHardke Last year at this time it was dry, also (not this dry) and then the 40 days and 40 nights of rain came!

Rice growers have started planting in Arkansas. The rice agronomy program also started planting date trials at Harrisburg today.

2026 rice acres: USDA’s 10-yr Baseline released last Friday had US ‘26 long-grain acres down 15% to 1.8 million (similar to 2022). Very believable, if not conservative.
