Yea you want to clear away any top dressing with brooms or blowers the best you can first. Moisture is key with repairs so you want to add water to give you a good base moisture before hand if it’s too dry. For this particular job we used a pull behind nail drag to loosen up the the low areas then followed that up with fresh slightly moistened infield clay. We screed that out with a 96” level a couple times then pull a small dragmat to fill in any low spots. Follow that up with a tire roll to tighten with turf tires. The key here is to wet it down pretty good to get all the new clay wet. Then give it some time to set up and roll when ready. May need to repeat that process again with dry clay to get a smooth finish. Add water again and Always finish with a heavy roll when ready. If it sticks to the roller then it’s not ready. Cover with top dressing of choice and you are ready to go. You can also roll in a layer of top dressing depending on what you use. Hope this helps!

Yesterday we filled and repaired the firstbase lead off spot. Finishing touches on it today. Every baseball groundskeeper knows this area can get low pretty quickly from the baserunners. Special thanks to #duraedge for an amazing product!
