✅We’re back in the Green! Yesterday’s water usage was 490 million litres (ML) which brought us back into the green zone. Your efforts are the reason we hit this number, let’s keep the momentum going! To stay up to date on the feeder main reinforcements, visit calgary.ca/savewater

Let’s reset our green streak and get back on track! Yesterday’s water demand was 506 million litres (ML), putting us in the risky red zone. Every shortened shower and every full load of laundry and dishes helps take the pressure off our system while the feeder main reinforcement continues. 💧Let's rally together and reset the streak today! 💧Sunday Update – A hidden win for us! While we were technically in the red zone at 504 million litres (ML), 5 ML of that was actually used to refill a section of the feeder main. This means that YOU only used 499 ML. We're counting this as a win. Keep up the great work! 💡Why were we refilling? One section of the pipe had been drained to allow work on a valve at the Shaganappi Pump Station. That work is done. Reinforcement work on other parts of the pipe is still underway, and we need to keep up water saving until it's all done. Thank you, Calgary. Let’s keep that momentum rolling! March 20. Back in the green! Great job, Team Calgary. As we wrap up the second week of planned reinforcement work on the Bearspaw South Feeder Main, we want to thank Calgarians and our neighbours in Airdrie, Chestermere, Strathmore and Tsuut’ina Nation for continuing to reduce water use. After a day in the red zone yesterday above our 500 million litres per day demand threshold, yesterday’s water use came in just below the line at 499 million litres. We know the desire to start some outdoor spring cleaning is kicking in as the weather warms up and that Spring Break is around the corner, but with a few weeks still to go, we ask everyone to keep up the great water savings work they have done so far. We are asking everyone to save 25 litres of water per person, per day, by: Flushing toilets only when needed. Keeping showers to three minutes or less. Running dishwashers and washing machines only with full loads. Even if you don’t live near the immediate construction area, the water flowing to your taps is all coming from the same place. If everyone can stay focused on these daily actions, we can help keep our system stable and water flowing reliably to your taps while the Bearspaw South Feeder Main is out of service. **Construction update** Crews continue to make progress on the planned reinforcement of the Bearspaw South Feeder Main. We are reinforcing a total of nine pipe segments: Six segments on 16 Avenue N.W., near Sarcee Trail Three segments in Point McKay Park Rebar work on the final pipe segments is now complete. Concrete pours will continue for the remainder of the week, and concrete curing is underway for completed pours. Crews are backfilling around the pipe at segments where concrete has cured. Valve replacement at the Shaganappi Pump Station will be completed this weekend, and we will then be able to start refilling that section of the pipe. This is only one section out of a total of three, and we won’t be able to refill the others and bring the pipe back into service until the reinforcement and backfilling are complete. Refilling this one section will use about 5 million litres of water, supplied from the Glenmore Water Treatment Plant, which will temporarily increase overall water demand over the weekend or into Monday. Those in the area may see water released at Shaganappi Pump station and into the river as refilling is completed. We are asking everyone to continue saving water to help manage our demand until all repairs are complete and the entire pipe is back in service. **Traffic and community updates** Starting March 24, construction will begin on the final microtunnelling shaft for the new steel pipe at 16 Avenue N.W. near 44 Street S.W. A work area will be set up in the parking lot on the south side of 16 Avenue N.W. and will remain in place until the new pipe is in operation in December 2026. There will be the following intermittent traffic impacts, including short-term lane closures related to this worksite: March 24–25: single-lane closure eastbound on 16 Avenue N.W. in this area. Beginning April 1 for approximately two weeks, and again in May and June: eastbound lanes closed in this area with one lane of traffic maintained in each direction. We know these closures will impact travel, and we thank you for your patience. Please plan ahead, follow posted signage and give crews space to work safely as we complete this project and bring the new pipe into service in December. **Message for businesses** We have been hearing about all the creative and innovative ways many local businesses are saving water. We encourage all businesses to: Review operations for unnecessary water use. Fix leaks and adjust processes where possible. Share water‑saving ideas with staff and customers. Thank you again for doing your part to save water, every action makes a difference as we complete this important work as quickly and safely as possible.

So close, Calgary! Yesterday’s water demand was 501 million litres (ML), just over the 500 ML mark. Today is a fresh start. Let’s all keep doing what we can to save water and move it back to the green zone! It’s as easy as skipping a few flushes, shortening your shower and only washing full loads of laundry and dishes. We’ve got this! To stay up to date on the feeder main reinforcements, visit calgary.ca/savewater

During the campaign, our team knocked on 55,000 doors. One thing was clear: Blanket Rezoning wasn't working for our Ward 6 communities. I'm excited to bring Calgarians back to the table for the Public Hearing to stop Blanket Rezoning. Learn more on next week's Public Hearing at Calgary.ca/rezoning.

🚨 Boil Water Advisory – Spruce Cliff, Wildwood & Rosscarrock Alberta Health Services has issued a Boil Water Advisory affecting approximately 500 homes and businesses in Spruce Cliff and limited areas of Wildwood and Rosscarrock, effective immediately. Earlier this morning (March 13), a private water service line broke on private property. While crews were shutting off water to the affected property, a disruption occurred in the watermain supplying drinking water to the surrounding area. As a precaution, Alberta Health Services has ordered the advisory while water quality is verified. This issue is NOT related to the Bearspaw South Feeder Main and did not involve a break on a City water main. Residents and businesses in the affected area should bring all tap water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using it for: • Drinking • Brushing teeth • Cleaning raw foods • Making ice You may also choose to use bottled water during the advisory. Water wagons will be available, with locations posted at: calgary.ca/wateroutages The advisory is expected to remain in place for at least three days while crews flush the system and complete water quality testing. For health questions, contact Health Link at 811. City crews are working closely with Alberta Health Services and Alberta Environment and Protected Areas, and updates will be shared as they become available.

The City is aware of an issue impacting water in parts of Spruce Cliff, Rosscarrock and Wildwood. On the morning of Friday, March 13, a water service line broke on private property. In the course of shutting off water to the affected property, there was a disruption to the watermain supplying drinking water to Spruce Cliff and limited areas of Wildwood and Rosscarrock. Crews are actively working to restore water, and water wagons are being deployed to the affected area. More information will be shared as it is available, and updates will be posted to calgary.ca/wateroutages. This break is in no way related to the Bearspaw South Feeder Main or reinforcement work being done on it. The issue is not expected to increase our overall water demand.

Status Update Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Calgary and Surrounding Area. Up to 20 cms of snow is expected to fall across the region on Sunday. Crews are currently responding to this upcoming event: we are preparing materials, mobilizing all equipment and activating extra contracted help. We continue to monitor forecasts and will apply anti-icing materials (i.e. salt, brine) to the road to limit the buildup of ice. Cold overnight temperatures are expected beginning on Sunday evening. During snowfall, crews focus on plowing and applying material to major roads like Crowchild Trail, Glenmore Trail, Macleod Trail and Memorial Drive. Crews will also monitor trouble spots like bridges, hills and important intersections across Calgary. Read more about The City's Priority Snow Plan calgary.ca/roads/conditio…
