One of my final acts as your mayor is to celebrate a new school for our children - the reconstruction of Percy Priest Elementary School. I joined @MetroSchools in the commitment to Nashville’s kids, something I know Dr. Battle will continue to do. There’s no better investment.

Deeply saddened by the passing of Charles William Fentress. He cared deeply and contributed significantly to our community. Our hearts go out to his family, friends, and all, as we mourn together.

I’m excited to join @JohnCooper4Nash for yet another investment in our future. A new Percy Priest Elementary will open in 2025 with a community park coming 1 year later. 700 pre-K - 5th graders will call it home with innovative tools that help teachers succeed in every class.

Hispanic Heritage Month runs from September 15 - October 15. We kicked off the celebration on Friday with the @NashHispChamber. We are a stronger and more vibrant city because of the role the Hispanic community plays in the economy, culture, and social fabric of Nashville.

In November, we shared that every @MetroSchools HS would receive a new sports field through our partnership w/ @titans + The Foundation for Athletics. Each school received $1m for a field or facilities improvement. We stepped on the new turf field @PearlCohnHS’s 1st home game.

We remember those who lost their lives 22 years ago when 412 of your brothers and sisters in service died working to keep their communities safe. We experience the bravery of first responders each day. I stand with you to remember the fallen and to give thanks to those who serve.
