🇨🇦Mixed Signals🇨🇦 I've been politically aware for a long time...or aware as I can be. I've never known a politician the way I knew Danielle Smith. I didn't get introduced to her like most candidates, through a few campaign stops or some TV interviews. I listened to her on the radio for years. I heard her mind at work every single day. She is likely the most informed vote I've ever made, but it's obvious now that there is a limit to how informed you can be about someone. When she ran for premier, I didn't vote for her because she's pretty, I voted for her because I genuinely thought I knew who she was...mostly. She crossed the floor back in the Wildrose days, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt. I figured she was standing on principle. Everyone makes mistakes, right? But people also mature. And besides, the other option was Rachel Notley...So on that note, I still feel that I made the right choice. She talked like someone who understood Alberta was getting screwed and was ready to fight for us. Now I barely recognise her. When she started cozying up to Mark Carney, it felt like a slap in the face. It was like catching your mom on a date with the biggest sleazebag in town. Watching her stand behind him at his speeches, nodding along, looking uncomfortable but still there, I don't know what to think. Captured? Compromised? Federal aspirations? She used to talk about Alberta First. About pushing back against Ottawa. About not getting trapped in bad deals, like Alberta has had with Ottawa for 120 years. That's what I voted for. Now she's signing MOUs and working within the system she used to rail against. Maybe she bought the Pathways to Net Zero pitch thinking any pipeline is better than no pipeline. If that's her way of getting things done, I'll coin my own phrase... It's pragmatic surrender, and certainly not victory. In my opinion, no pipeline deal is better than a bad pipeline deal in perpetuity. Whatever the reason, she's not the long term thinker I thought she was. She's locking us into deals that could hurt Alberta for decades. I thought she was the answer, with some reservations of course. I never fully trust any politician. But she was on the right track. Now she's pulling a Giorgia Meloni... talking tough until she got in power, then doing a complete about face. If she's playing some secretive long game and has an ace up her sleeve, she better show her hand fast, because she's losing her base. At this point, she has soured me. Now I don't trust any of them. The only politician left in Canada unscathed at the moment is Pierre Poilievre. He says all the right things and he's very politically astute. He understands politics, history, economics, free market capitalism, socialism, and expresses it eloquently. In fact, he can be downright Churchillian at times in some of his speeches. But if he gets into power, how long until he also crumbles under pressure (from above?) I never thought I'd write something like this about Danielle. I didn't want to. Even as a separatist, she originally gave me what I voted for. She didn't promise me separation. She promised me sovereignty within a united Canada, and at that time, that was good enough, and a good start. If sovereignty within a united Canada is still her stance at all, it's delusional. You cannot have sovereignty within a growing authoritarian surveillance state. She reacted poorly to the emergence of Mark Carney and especially the rise of separatism in Alberta. She should have remained neutral and provided a soft landing spot should the separation issue fail. I now view her decision making skills as questionable at best. She has either sided with globalist Net Zero BS in a misguided, pragmatic attempt at getting something done, or she has backed herself into a corner that she didn't need to be in. If she had played her cards right, kept her nose clean, kept fighting against Ottawa, and let the democratic process take place in Alberta, we would be talking about erecting a statue of her right now, rather than ousting her at the next AGM. All said, this just strengthens my core belief that Canada is unfixable. The only solution is... #AlbertaIndependence 🤠

I am not detecting any dip in support for Prime Minister Carney in the 905. Quite the opposite. I have yet to hear ANYONE say a bad word about the guy. 905ers are fully behind Carney. They know he's extremely competent and they trust him.

This is absolutely egregious. The Liberal government has issued a directive barring military chaplains from doing prayers at military ceremonies. Instead, they're permitted only to do a non-religious "spiritual reflection" that cannot mention God.

She gave Albertans such hope. She had promise. It has ended. So much respect for her is now gone.
