I’m seeing these ads everywhere this morning. A perfect example of the grave threat presented by Elon Musk’s platform. Lies promoted actively by the rigged algorithms and supported by an army of bots. We have to close this platform down.

I can't remember the last time I renamed variables manually in #rstats. I always use my data dictionary for renaming! That way, if I ever need to update names in the future, I'm only updating once in my data dictionary, not in both my data dictionary and script. 🙌

@stevewotton It was a range of increasingly apparent factors that eventually culminated together. There was a final tipping point but by itself it would have been far from sufficient.

Has anyone ever 'won' an argument, in the sense of the other side concluding "oh yes, I now see my arguments on this were wrong - you've changed my mind"?

@Carl71165475 GDP is a measure of *output* which includes things like the numbers of school lessons and rail journeys. So when schools and stations are shut, GDP falls. (This is even without taking account of indirect costs, eg. working parents having to stay at home to look after kids.)

Reminder of the main reason why the UK economy stalled in February - #strikes, especially by teachers but also civil servants and railway workers, which knocked about 0.2 percentage points off monthly #GDP growth... 🤓

Really not a fan of all this morally loaded "workers must show pay restraint" rhetoric. It's entirely rational for people facing 10% inflation to try to get a pay rise. Tell them no if you want, but don't tell them they were wrong to even ask.

@djmgaffneyw4 Agreed. But I think history will ultimately reveal him to be Johnson’s diversionary puppet. Better to have puritans pray to “Frosty The No Man” than step outside the igloo. Brexit has gotten this far on lies and misrepresentation so there’s no incentive to change tactics.
