A pleasure to meet with Dr. Fatih Birol to discuss global energy security, evolving market dynamics, and Canada’s role in ensuring reliable and sustainable energy supplies.

Canada and Europe are united in our values of pluralism, the rule of law, and democracy. On Europe Day, we’re building on that foundation to forge new strategic partnerships, deepen our trade, and stand steadfast with Ukraine. In a more uncertain world, Canada and Europe are creating greater certainty, security, and prosperity on both sides of the Atlantic.

It was an honour to attend the 50th anniversary of the EU Delegation to Canada.   The relationship between Canada and the European Union is grounded in shared democratic values and close collaboration on defence and security in an increasingly complex and fast-evolving global environment.   At this pivotal moment, it is more important than ever that we continue to strengthen this relationship.   I look forward to my upcoming role as Canada’s Ambassador to the European Union and to helping further advance this partnership.   —   Ce fut un honneur d’assister au 50e anniversaire de la Délégation de l’Union européenne au Canada.   La relation entre le Canada et l’Union européenne repose sur des valeurs démocratiques communes ainsi que sur une étroite collaboration en matière de défense et de sécurité dans un environnement mondial de plus en plus complexe et en constante évolution.   En ce moment décisif, il est plus important que jamais de continuer à renforcer ce partenariat.   C’est avec grand plaisir que je prendrai prochainement mes fonctions en tant qu’Ambassadeur du Canada auprès de l’Union européenne et que je contribuerai à faire progresser davantage cette coopération.

Today, we remember the Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ people lost to violence, and to stand with their families. The red dress is a powerful symbol - and a call to action. We remain committed to working with Indigenous partners to end this national crisis and build a future where everyone can live safely and with dignity.

The relationship between Canada and Europe is rooted in a common history and shared values, and we’re building on that. In a more divided world, we’re choosing partnership — in trade, defence, and security — to build a more prosperous and secure future together.

Good to catch up with my friend, Premier Tim Houston, in Halifax. We had a great discussion on economic opportunities for Nova Scotia, our shared commitment to our respective coasts, and ways to collaborate moving forward.

Today, I had the pleasure of speaking at the Carbon to Sea Initiative’s Annual Convening in Halifax, a global gathering on ocean-based carbon dioxide removal. This year marked the first convening outside Washington and the launch of Carbon to Sea Canada in Halifax – reflecting Canada’s growing role in this emerging field. With strong ocean science, public institutions, and climate leadership, Canada is well positioned to help shape how this work is developed and governed, responsibly and with ambition. We just released our first Spring Economic Update. It outlines our country’s strong fiscal position and introduces new measures to ensure that all Canadians can participate in building Canada strong, and share in its success.

The Spring Economic Update 2026 is here.   In a changing global landscape, our focus is clear: build a stronger, more independent, and more resilient Canada, at home.   This update moves forward this government’s plan to strengthen the economy, lower costs, and invest in Canadians, while reducing the projected deficit by over $11 billion.   Key priorities include building major infrastructure, making life more affordable, and protecting our communities and sovereignty.   We are building Canada strong, for all. 🇨🇦 #SpringEconomicUpdate

One year ago, the federal government set out a plan with clear priorities: bring down costs, build one Canadian economy, protect our sovereignty, and strengthen partnerships with reliable partners. We’re making progress and staying focused on delivering for Canadians.

Today is a day to pause and remember workers who have been killed, injured, or made ill because of their work. This government is committed to strengthening safety so every Canadian gets home safe at the end of the day.

One year ago today, the Lapu-Lapu Day tragedy in Vancouver took 11 lives and injured many more. Today, we remember those we lost, honour their memory, and stand with their families and the Filipino Canadian community. We will not forget.

On Armenian Genocide Memorial Day, we remember the 1.5 million Armenians killed between 1915 and 1923. We honour the resilience of survivors and their descendants, including Armenian Canadians, and reaffirm our commitment to remembrance, education, and the prevention of atrocities. Across Canada, volunteers are a driving force behind stronger communities, showing up when it matters most. That spirit of service is part of who we are as Canadians. It connects us and helps build communities that are resilient, inclusive, and supportive. Here in North Vancouver–Capilano, I see it firsthand through our EDA volunteers – on the phones, at the doors, and out in the community – bringing people together around a shared purpose. Living on the North Shore has a way of putting things in perspective. The mountains, the ocean, and the forests have been central to my life—and a constant reminder of what we stand to lose if we don’t act to protect our environment for generations to come. Happy Earth Day 🌎
