Unpopular opinion: Kids shouldn't have to share. Being good at sharing is not actually an important skill. When is the last time you had to let someone else use your phone even though you didn't want them to? It doesn't happen.

@JAustinEDU It says as much about what it replaced as it does about where education going. If we add value to the classroom experience that software can't replicate, parents want, and students value then we can make a difference. Stop writing lessons start designing experiences.

@Amboree_Educate I’m 18 years in, and the thought of someone with less than 10 years experience all lived before COVID evaluating my teaching is borderline insulting.

I may ruffle some feathers, but I am convinced now more than ever that Teachers should not be able to leave the classroom after 3 yrs to become administrators. 3 yrs is NOT enough time to master the art and science of teaching and hone their craft. They are still novice at best.

@ChristieNold No disagreement here. The challenge in having conversations in education is that while we may be using the same words, we often may have different definitions for those terms.

I’m dialoguing with other high school teachers about #GradingForEquity and Mastery-based grading, the biggest insight I have gained is that a sizable chunk of teachers give summative assessments for skills that are not explicitly taught…

Banning ChatGPT from schools raises equity issues. Kids with home computers will have access no matter what the school rules are.
