that’s an odd time for a weather break, NBC5, especially for one with zero gravitas..there was no need here…this could’ve waited until game was overwith…pretty spare, NBC5…but wait-now they interrupt that and go back to the game, which is overwith…how utterly small market
No discovery made in the last 400 years of physics has rendered my belief in the triune God impossible, difficult, or even unlikely. In fact, it's the opposite. My Christian beliefs give me a renewed and more solid basis for my trust in the rational and immutable laws of nature.
Kierkegaard: Christianity concerns both truth-claims and emotions.
I fell into the trap of focusing exclusively on the first and ignoring the second, much to my detriment. I'm now correcting that, but it's like a frozen limb coming back to life.
@trisomymama@sarahsalviander Imagine Heaven by John Burke is a book that I would recommend. I have given multiple copies as gifts. John does a good job of providing scriptures and the points were NDE accounts align. A very encouraging read.
Listening to accounts of near-death experiences is uplifting. I find so much reassurance and strengthening of my trust in God from them. They're a tremendous source of hope, which is, I suppose, one reason God allows them.
Georges Lemaître, priest and cosmologist, father of the big bang: Jesus not only gave us this magnificent universe, He gave us the minds to comprehend it.
A possible way to start a conversation with someone who is not a believer:

Believing that a transcendent intelligence created the universe, established its laws and parameters, and deemed it good, is what motivated Christian natural philosophers to eventually produce modern science in the 17th century.
A priori, it is strange and unlikely that I exist. Empirically, there are no peer reviewed scientific studies that verify my existence. Belief in my existence is fringe -- most scientists don't even know about it.

There is no such thing as philosophy-free science; there is only science whose philosophical baggage is taken on board without examination.

This is one reason we engage in prayer and why we take our thoughts captive to Christ. Most of the things we worry about will never come to pass, or won't harm us in the way we worry they will. And the small % of worries that are well-founded? God will see us through them.
“God is in control, and therefore in EVERYTHING I can give thanks - not because of the situation but because of the One who directs and rules over it.”
― Kay Arthur
“If physics is the product of design, the universe must have a purpose, and the evidence of modern physics suggests strongly to me that the purpose includes us.”
