German medical researchers have engineered a novel, injectable hydrogel designed to stimulate the biological regeneration of articular cartilage. This non-surgical approach aims to directly repair joint damage and restore natural cushioning without relying on invasive and costly joint replacement procedures.
Orthopedic experts note that osteoarthritis and cartilage degradation affect hundreds of millions globally, often leading to debilitating pain and limited mobility. By utilizing a bioactive matrix that encourages the body's own stem cells to multiply and differentiate into healthy tissue, this gel could drastically shift treatment paradigms away from artificial implants.
The underlying technology relies on a specialized polymer network that seamlessly mimics the natural extracellular environment of human joints. Once introduced to the affected area, it acts as a supportive structural scaffold, safely dissolving over time as fresh, healthy cartilage takes its place.
Early clinical observations report a significant reduction in chronic joint inflammation and a much faster return to pain-free movement for affected participants. Unlike traditional surgical interventions, which frequently require months of strenuous physical therapy, this minimally invasive procedure could allow for an incredibly rapid recovery window.
While currently advancing through rigorous regulatory testing phases, the successful commercialization of this regenerative therapy could save global healthcare systems billions in surgical and rehabilitation costs. It offers a highly promising future where debilitating joint conditions are managed with a simple outpatient visit, permanently restoring active lifestyles for aging populations and athletes alike.
If this non-surgical treatment becomes widely available, how would the ability to naturally regrow joint cartilage change your approach to staying active?

SOLANA IS TESTING QUANTUM -- AND IT REVEALS THE TRADEOFF
The Solana Foundation, Solana Labs, and partners like Project Eleven are actively testing quantum-resistant upgrades today -- not because it’s a current threat, but to prepare early.
The result is clear: stronger security means 20-40x larger data and up to ~90% slower performance. That’s the tradeoff.
Now comes the hard part -- figuring out how to upgrade millions of wallets and validators without breaking the network, while improving performance.
Speed-first systems don’t upgrade for free. The real question isn’t who’s fastest… it’s who can adapt when it matters.

Hidden Painting of the Church of Saint George Maggiore, discovered during restoration, at the end of 2022 during the holidays, the canvas hidden in the Church of San Giorgio Maggiore, one of the first four churches built in Naples which represents a peculiar testimony of paleochristian art. There are two paintings here, both are from 16th Century AD, both paintings are behind the alter, one is "Life of San Severo" hidden one is "St. George and the Dragon" (mural) it's in Naples, Italy.
Church of San Giorgio Maggiore, a street traced by the footprint of the art, and explore the ancient Church of San Giorgio Maggiore, named after the warrior martyr. This saint is one of the most impressive Christian figures, which links to the imaginative myth of the Dragon; an emblem of the infinite struggle between good and evil.
The basilica was built by the will of Bishop Saverio of Naples between the end of 4th and the beginning of the 5th Century AD. Behind the main altar wrapped in a semicircle of white columns, you can admire two masterpieces of Neapolitan painting of the 16th Century. The two majestic canvases which are harmoniously arranged facing each other were painted by Alessio D’Elia. The canvas on the left side represents the “life of San Severo” while the one on the right side depicts the battle of "St. George and the Dragon."
It is just behind the second one that lurks the surprising painting depicting the same subject. A sturdy chassis with hinges on which D'Elia's canvas is situated, moves through a rope like a massive book that opens and reveals the magnificent painting behind.
The hidden fresco which is still intact today, has been brought to light by a recent restoration. Its colours are still brilliant. Aniello Falcone realized it around 1645 AD and its artistic value astonishes. The work has an intense emotional charge and a striking impact. It brings the spectator back to the fairy-tale atmospheres of the medieval myth. Anyway, why was it hidden for all this time?
The protagonist of the scene is the white horse that is driven by the hardened warrior San Giorgio, who pierces the monstrous creature with a sharp lance pointing straight at its mouth. The dragon seems like an extraordinary beast of fighting the warrior. Below its feet, pure fantasy we can see its meal: young innocents reduced to carcasses. In the background, a woman flees in fear. Killing the dragon, San Giorgio saves the king's young daughter, who was about to be sacrificed to the immoderate creature and he frees the Libyan population of Selem from his lashes.

An average picture that you save on your phone or PC has a size of around 400 kilobytes. It doesn't do anything, it's just a static image.
Now divide that by the factor 10, so you drop to 40 kilobytes. That's the size of The Last Ninja, developed by System 3 and published in 1987.
I still struggle to comprehend, even in the slightest, how programmers back then did what they did - and the worlds they created with the limitations they had to work with.
I was simply blown away by the graphics (isometric on the C64 with such an amazing level of detail - simply gorgeous) and absolutely mesmerized by the kickass sound. What Ben Daglish and Anthony Lees conjured up musically will forever be part of gaming history - an iconic masterpiece.
40 kilobytes man...

Old timers hand-milling massive oak logs the old-school way… no power tools, just pure skill. 🪵
This 1978 footage from Germany is something else. These traditional carpenters in Kürten hoist the massive oak trunks up onto a towering trestle so they can hand-mill them — one man above and one below — using a long two-man crosscut saw.
They slowly and steadily saw the logs lengthwise, milling perfect floorboards and beams for half-timbered houses. You can see the rhythm, the sweat, and the years of experience in every single stroke.
No chainsaws, no electric sawmills — just hand tools, teamwork, and craftsmanship that used to be everyday life.
It’s amazing how much patience and strength went into something we now take for granted.
Makes me appreciate the old ways even more. ❤️
