boycotts were never just about making a company go bankrupt overnight btw. the point is also to create public pressure, damage the company’s image and show that consumers/fans are unhappy with the situation. huge corporations ain’t gonna collapse immediately bcs of one boycott, but that doesn’t mean it has no impact. when boycott tags trend every day, when media outlets start talking about the backlash and when investors start noticing the negative attention, those are all effects of the boycott too. stock drops show how public opinion can affect a company. reputation matters just as much as profit bcs bad PR affects trust, partnerships, future sales and investor confidence. public pressure has always been one of the biggest reasons companies eventually respond
