Tulane Green Wave 🏈
🚨Walk-On Spotlight🚨
Linebacker
Grayson McPherson- @mcpuff83
Redshirt freshman (#43, 6’3”, 221 lbs) from Aurora, CO (Regis Jesuit HS).
A high school tight end who transitioned to linebacker, he had a solid, low-key developmental spring, exactly what you’d expect for a young R-Fr. in his first full college camp.
He participated fully across all 15 spring practices and the final public scrimmage (April 18 at Yulman Stadium).
With the linebacker room notably thin due to injuries (including Dickson Agu’s ACL recovery), McPherson and other young LBs like Chan Lumpkin and Zach Dresch got real developmental reps alongside veterans.
Coach Will Hall specifically mentioned him (along with new addition Dalton Hughes) as one of the “young guys coming on” during post-scrimmage comments, indicating steady progress and increased involvement late in camp.
No flashy individual highlights or stats were reported in Green Wave Report coverage or local media (typical for depth freshmen this early), but he focused on scheme installation in the new defensive system, improving technique, physicality at the second level, and special teams contributions. It was a foundational spring that positioned him well for fall camp competition and future depth/chart climbing.
Overall, Grayson McPherson is doing exactly what the staff wants from a young linebacker: showing up, earning reps, and growing without the pressure of heavy expectations.
He’s part of Tulane’s long-term LB pipeline and should continue developing into a reliable contributor.

Tulane Green Wave 🏈
🚨Walk-On Spotlight🚨
Quarterback
Dagan Bruno- @BrunoDagan
A redshirt sophomore walk-on quarterback from John Curtis High School in New Orleans, had a very strong and eye-opening 2026 spring for the Tulane Green Wave.
He entered spring as more of a scout-team guy (he redshirted in 2024 with no game action), but he consistently produced big plays, showed major improvement as a passer, and inserted himself into the quarterback competition.
Key Highlights from Spring Practices and the Final Scrimmage (April 18, 2026)
Scrimmage performance:
Bruno went 5-of-5 for 69 yards, including a standout 40-yard touchdown strike on a go route/streak to wide receiver Antwaun Parham (prettiest pass of the day). He had a perfect 4-for-4 drive that ended in that TD to Parham.
Overall spring:
He made big plays in essentially every practice and showed “drastic leaps” in his development.
Coach Will Hall and reporters noted he’s shedding the “option QB” label from his high school days (where he ran for over 500 yards and 8 TDs in his final season) and proving he’s a complete quarterback who can operate, throw accurately, make checks, and run effectively.
Coach Will Hall’s Take
Hall was effusive in his praise:
“Dagan has really come on this spring, and given us another weapon back there. It’s a guy that can really operate, extremely accurate, and really good runner as well.”
“Dagan Bruno is a college football player, and you can win with Dagan Bruno… Dagan can play. I’m so proud of Dagan. I love his competitive spirit. He’s a tough guy, a winner and a leader.”
Where He Stands in the QB Room
Kadin Semonza and transfer Zeon Chriss-Gremillion remain the clear frontrunners (they wore no-contact jerseys all spring), but Bruno (along with early enrollee Trace Johnson) turned heads enough that fall camp could feature a legitimate four-way competition. Hall has said they’ll eventually narrow the reps from six QBs down to four, and Bruno has earned real consideration.
In short, Bruno went from depth-chart afterthought to a legitimate weapon and potential starter candidate this spring. Local fans (especially Curtis alums) have plenty to be excited about heading into the fall.

Tulane Green Wave Football
🚨2026 Spring Football Preview🚨
Reloading with Familiar Leadership, Portal Power, and younger players rising to the occasion
The Tulane Green Wave enter spring 2026 riding high from a banner 2025 campaign under former head coach Jon Sumrall. They posted an 11-3 record (7-1 in the American Athletic Conference), claimed the AAC title, earned a No. 18 final AP ranking, and made their first College Football Playoff appearance before falling 41-10 to Ole Miss in the first round.
But with Sumrall’s departure to Florida, the program turned to a familiar face:
Will Hall, who was elevated to head coach after serving as passing game coordinator 2025 (and earlier as OC from 2019-20). Hall brings continuity and a proven offensive mind, he helped set progrum passing records in prior stints, while new coordinators like OC Russ Callaway and special teams coordinator Chris Forestier add fresh schemes. Defensive coordinator Tayler Polk stays to anchor the unit.
Spring practice is in full swing with practices on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
The capstone is the Spring Game on Saturday, April 18 in Yulman Stadium a public scrimmage that will give fans their first extended look at the post-Sumrall era.
The big storylines? A wide-open QB competition, a deep RB room, speedy WR depth, a fresh OL, a focus on special teams and offensive line depth.
Despite the turnover, expectations remain sky-high: defend the AAC crown, navigate a rugged non-conference slate, and chase another CFP berth.
