During voluntary lifts we get 200 tennis ball catches in. When the same kids keep stacking extra work day after day, good things tend to happen.

@KyleBelack Their loss, not yours. And surely don’t let that deflate the energy you bring to those that stayed. Instead, inflate the energy balloon for those that stayed. No looking back, only forward with those committed to what you all are about.

To add to this Every college coach at the Florida Coaches Convention spoke about how bad the current transfer culture in Florida high school football has become. There’s little enforcement of the rules and virtually no transparency.

We need a list like this showing how many players each team has who do not live within their zoned school area. Every program gets transfer players, but it would be informative to see which schools rely most on athletes coming from outside their zone to sustain success.

@Fodrocy1156 The coaching they would have gotten at the private school was much higher but they never got to experience it.

I agree that coaches and teachers matter more than ever, and there’s definitely a teachable side to it. I just think when movement becomes constant, it makes it harder to build long-term accountability, relationships, and identity within a program. Development works best when there’s stability to build on. I’ve been at a school where a new coach was hired and 20+ kids left before even meeting the staff and for the kids who stayed, there really weren’t many words besides just keep working. They left a highly regarded private school to attend lower rated public schools. Not about education but athletics.

Transfers themselves aren’t the issue families should do what’s best for their kids. The problem is when mass transferring becomes the norm. It disrupts team culture, hurts schools building through development, creates imbalance, and turns high school football into free agency instead of education based athletics.

Grassroots recruiting in Florida is still very real, and I’m sure many staffs are staying connected with the people on the ground. Every school I talked to emphasized they have an open door policy this spring, so I’m sure a lot of those questions could be answered directly by their staffs.

Wonder if those college coaches talking about the challenges of the current environment here and the changes that have taken place are reaching out to the ones still in the state keeping up with said changes. Grassroots marketing of the players to know is still being done in the recruiting hotbeds of the state.

@H2_Recruiting I don’t have all the answers, but one thing was clear, schools without a strong footprint in Florida are behind. Multiple coaches talked about how challenging the current environment is here, and it was interesting hearing that same message consistently across the board.

@KyleBelack It also hasn’t stopped those same coaches from recruiting the state at a high level each year either. Could that eventually change in the near future… 🧐🤔
