Alberta’s independence movement is driven by something far deeper than money: our fundamental concern for the future of our children and grandchildren. We don’t need to be paid. Thousands of Albertans are volunteering their time and energy because they believe in a better future for our province. Unlike the NDP — heavily funded and controlled by big unions — the independence movement runs on conviction, not cheques. This is grassroots. This is real. This is Alberta. #AlbertaIndependence

I’m ready to fight like hell for this country, and against anyone trying to tear it apart. The richest man in the world wants Canada to become the 51st state and is now amplifying Alberta separatism. So let’s ask the question: Who is funding this movement? Albertans deserve to know.

Alberta independence would not threaten or alter Treaty rights — just as those rights were unaffected when Canada transferred Crown lands to Alberta under the 1930 Natural Resources Transfer Agreement. Many Alberta First Nations and Métis voters have signed the independence petition and support Alberta sovereignty. The Chiefs' attempts to block this democratic petition process are purely political and an attack on the right of citizens to petiton their government.

False alarm. An independent Alberta wouldn't cut off Treaty 8 members. For example, the 1794 Jay Treaty guarantees First Nations the right to freely cross the US border — no passport needed, just a treaty card. This right exists today and would continue unchanged under Alberta sovereignty. Treaty rights are not threatened by independence. This is just chiefs playing politics.

Eva, best of luck and success to you today. But you know the answer to your question. Politicians over the past 10 or so years realized they can milk the people and the country for personal gain, whether that be power, prestige or money. They became afraid of the people when they realized that the people, if allowed to express themselves freely, democratically and be allowed to organize to change things, could deprive them of what they believe is their rightful due. They will do anything, say anything or believe anything if it furthers their ability to extract benefit from "the people" Most of them have never had a job which pays so well, has so many perks, which glorifies them and generally fluffs their tender egos. These people have no interest in serving the people, they use those words to placate the useful idiots and the supine media. I believe them to be evil incarnate. I get asked what politician or party I like. Short answer, none of them. Until we eliminate our political system of professional politicians and of lifetime civil servants, We the People will never have a chance of truly having our governments serve us versus serving themselves.

Join us for Day 3. Should be interesting. As I sit here today, I can’t help but ask: When did those in power become so afraid of the people?
Eva Chipiuk, BSc, LLB, LLM@echipiuk

This week, we will be in Court on a challenge brought by several First Nations in relation to the independence petition. Our position is straightforward: the matter is non-justiciable, premature, and fundamentally political, not legal. It is not a matter for the Court and should be dismissed outright. It is unfortunate that emotion and misinformation have become part of this campaign, which has caused division and confusion. At this stage of the process, a private Albertan has collected signatures from fellow citizens and has already communicated that outcome to elected representatives. Did anything life-shattering or legally consequential occur? No. So we already know the answer to this week of court challenges: nothing changes legally, because nothing has happened beyond citizens communicating with each other and with their elected officials. This is civic engagement. It is a core feature of a functioning democracy and it should be encouraged, not discouraged and obstructed. Importantly, no one requires permission to speak with fellow citizens or to convey collective views to elected officials. Mr. Mitch Sylvestre chose to use the framework set out in the Citizen Initiative Act, legislation designed to structure and facilitate precisely this kind of participation, with oversight by Elections Alberta. Because that statutory framework exists, it opens the door to legal challenges directed at both the legislation and the actions of Elections Alberta. That is how we arrived here. But at its core, this case reflects something much broader: organized interests seeking to challenge administrative decisions that are intended to enable citizen participation, not restrict it. And when lawful civic engagement is met with attempts to control or suppress it, the result should not be surprising. The more participation is constrained, the more people will push back and seek other avenues to be heard. So we must ask ourselves: Do we want a system that encourages citizens to engage or one that discourages them from participating? And if participation is discouraged, who actually benefits?

There were no more PRINCIPLES that mattered in Political Parties They started to just offer sets of policies designed to win votes Focus Group politics And local Candidates became more opportunistic: right local profile, right ethnicity not about the best person 5/

And the reason these very small time bribes work is twofold 1) Loyalty to a Party is dying in Canadian politics 2) Some Back Bench MPs are pretty small, shitty people, total opportunitists Real Party loyalty started dying in the 90's Too many people became transactional 4/

🇨🇦 uses our paychecks to fund gun confiscation, censorship, digital surveillance, global welfare & indigenous property theft. What did you expect? We’d just go along with it? Independence is a response to radical socialist aggression As for foreign threats, millionsof immigrants and Palestinian Muslims are the biggest in 🇨🇦. This is our land, not theirs.

Politics is so detached from reality. Imagine you knew someone personally who was so duplicitous, so disingenuous, someone who would say something one moment and say something completely different to another. You would consider that person incurably toxic and you would want nothing to do with them. You would tell your real friends that that person is a POS. That's literally how that conversation would go. Politics needs to be done in the same fashion as regular interpersonal relationships in real life. I wonder if we can ever get that...

Why bother holding elections in Canada when the votes of thousands can become null & void by a single persons decision to change parties. The will of the people didn’t make that decision, one person did. It should be an immediate by-election.

Oh, what a glorious democracy we have in Canada! Starting April 13, right after the Terrebonne by-election, the Liberal Party will officially become a majority government — and the first one in Canadian history to achieve that glorious status without the population actually voting for it. How wonderfully efficient! No messy national election required. Just a sprinkle of cross-flooring, a convenient by-election, and voilà — total control, courtesy of MPs who treat their ridings like optional suggestions. Voters? Adorable. Why bother showing up when floor-crossing has become the national sport and your MP clearly doesn’t give a single flying fuck about the people who elected them? The cynicism is delicious. Canadians aren’t even surprised anymore — we’re just tired of pretending this circus still has rules. Enjoy your unvoted majority, folks. Democracy is thriving. Elbows Up! 🇨🇦 #Terrebonne #LiberalMajority #CanadianDemocracy #WhyBotherVoting
