But today, the Liberals (led by Marilyn Gladu) REFUSED unanimous consent after repeatedly disrupting the meeting with points of order. When it comes to getting answers from the Justice Minister, the Liberals will do everything possible to run interference and block accountability. Liberal hypocrisy at its finest.

Back in 2017, Liberals argued Ottawa shouldn’t decide on mandatory prison sentences. Today, they are defending legislation they CLAIM restores mandatory minimum penalties. FRAUD ALERT – COURIER / BANKING SCAM Police are warning the public about an ongoing courier scam involving suspects posing as representatives from financial institutions or bank fraud departments. Victims receive a phone call from someone claiming their debit or credit card has been compromised or linked to fraudulent activity. The caller may request the victim’s PIN number over the phone and instruct them to place their bank cards into an envelope. The victim is then told that a courier will attend their residence to collect the cards for “investigation” or “replacement” purposes. In many cases, the courier is an Uber driver or other ride-share driver arranged by the suspect. The scammer often remains on the phone with the victim until the cards have been collected. Once the suspects obtain the cards and PIN numbers, they use them to make fraudulent in-store purchases and withdrawals. Protect Yourself • Banks and financial institutions will NEVER send a courier to your home to collect bank cards • NEVER provide your PIN number over the phone • Hang up immediately if you receive a suspicious or unsolicited call • Contact your bank directly using the phone number on the back of your bank card to verify any concerns • Never hand over your debit or credit cards to anyone If you believe you have been targeted or victimized by this scam, contact your financial institution and contact the Brantford Police Service at 519-756-7050.
