BREAKING: Lawyers who had cases before SCOTUS, including the case that ended Affirmative Action, sent payments to aides of Justice Clarance Thomas from 2019-2021. The payments were never disclosed, & they paid via Venmo, b/c of course they did.😐

A bone-chilling development in Atlanta just now: heavily militarized police just arrested bail support and legal defense workers who are providing charitable support to protestors arrested for opposing CopCity in Atlanta. Police are calling "financial crimes."
Defaulting on the debt—including trillions incurred under Donald Trump—could mean seniors missing Social Security checks and millions of jobs lost.
It sounds like the head of the Republican Party thinks that’s a price worth paying to elect Republicans.
The sole reason why the GOP is able to demand one-way concessions in debt-ceiling negotiations is that it is plausibly willing to sabotage the country. That should be a scandal for the party, yet much of the press treats it as perfectly normal.

There was a shoplifting ring in my hometown who was known for dropping huge sums of money on designer clothes.
Everyone in town knew who they were, but they NEVER got caught.
Some high end stores would even let them shop freely, KNOWING they were thieves
Why?

Thinking a lot today about Kitty Genovese, a lesbian from Brooklyn, whose brutal and senseless murder by a stranger was twisted and exploited to push a racist, anti-urbanist, and factually-incorrect narrative that has shaped the last 50+ years of American history. ❤️🧡🤍💜
NEW: Activists in Georgia posted flyers naming one of the cops in Tortuguita’s killing. They were arrested, placed in solitary confinement and now face a felony and 20 years in prison. W/ @natashalennardtheintercept.com/2023/05/02/cop…
Last year, a coworker randomly asked me to hand-deliver an antique violin across the country. I said yes, because why not. I had no idea what I was getting into, and now I need your help. A 🧵
A pregnant Anya Cook went to a hospital experiencing a pre-viability rupture, but because of Florida’s abortion law, the hospital would not treat her. She ended up having a miscarriage in the bathroom of a hair salon, losing half the blood in her body.

A Texas woman was forced to give birth to a baby missing part of its brain and skull.
Then - because the state that forced her to give birth doesn't have public funds for infant funerals - she had to raise money to lay her daughter to rest.

I hope this can be an important lesson for anyone who's ever given GOP cyber terrorists credibility.
When a stalker whose paid job is to harass and dox someone - to the tune of 175,000 tweets in 2 years - gets sheriff dept footage in less than 12 hours before any news outlet, and then doxxes a 13 year old kid, don't trust them.
Andrew McGimspey who goes by maxnordau selectively edited footage he got to lie and say my son was never handcuffed, to start a false story that I turned my son in instead of surrendering him after thinking we were going to the sheriff's office and would be coming home with him, and to make me look like a liar.
I videotape everything.
My family is not safe. My son has been taken on the gov's orders, and I've had to send my husband and daughter out of state for their safety.
THIS is the reality of living in DeSantis' Florida.
There is no freedom here. Only retaliatory rule by a fascist who wishes to be king
From @brotherjones_ on the ground in Nashville— the Tennessee legislator is planning to expel lawmakers who stood with gun control advocates today.
They have been stripped from committee assignments and their member ID’s have been shut off.
THIS IS NOT DEMOCRACY.
Every time there is a school shooting, Republicans try to distract from the real problem with crap (this time, blaming trans people).
That's because the GOP, and everybody who votes for them, are complicit in these murders.

1. A elementary school in Florida has banned a 1998 Disney film about civil rights hero Ruby Bridges, pending a "review."
I've obtained documents revealing exactly how this happened.

Doctors at a major US insurance company deny tens of thousands of claims a month without even looking at patients’ files.
“We literally click & submit,” a former Cigna doctor told @ProPublica & @Capitol_Forum. “It takes all of 10 seconds to do 50 at a time.”
