The bomb squad was called to Linwood earlier after reports of a suspicious item. Homes in Reid Avenue and Bridge of Weir Road were evacuated around 9.30am - but the item was found to pose no risk to the public.

Firefighters are tackling a blaze at flats in Edinburgh. Emergency crews were called to Whitson Road around 10:45 am. Three engines are in attendance, and road closures are in place. We're being told to avoid the area; it's not known if there are any injuries.

Police Scotland says there's nothing to suggest a specific threat here, after the UK's Terrorism Threat Level was raised to severe.

A 17-year-old boy is seriously hurt after being attacked by two men wearing balaclavas in South Lanarkshire. It happened on Morriston Street in Cambuslang around 20 past 4 on Thursday afternoon. Police want to hear from any witnesses, or see any CCTV or dash-cam footage.
