It’s time @MBIEgovtnz required us to build UP to a standard not DOWN to a price. Future-proof our homes. Start at @KaingaOraGovtNZ. Do it right the first time.

Back in 2020 St Andrews Village opened 'The Terraces'.
The Terraces comprise of 48 Lifemark 5-Star apartments and are a great example of Multi-storey Universal Design.

Thoughts to ponder on people wanting a "forever home": they will need a home that continues to support them throughout their lifespan. However, we know that the current housing market doesn’t typically lend itself to the forever part. #universaldesign

@theUDproject Here in NZ despite an aging population and 1 in 4 with a disability we are still adding inaccessible homes to our housing stock. Time to rethink and build more Universally Designed homes. Lifemark is working to make 'forever' homes the new norm. @Lifemark

@theUDproject In NZ 90% of us want to retire in a forever home. We need more forever homes built to our UD standards, they won't just work 4 our aging population but 4 many more! e.g. Max & Tricia's Lifemark 4-Star home is a prime, it works for 98% of our population⬇️

In NZ 1 in 4 have a disability, this omits temp disabilities and the fact we have an ageing population.

For many people, leading an independent life may be fully conditional on the accessibility of public spaces & our homes. Official stats on disability omit health conditions, & temp disability. Accessibility is about all of us. That is, universal design.
