African lions are Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List, with numbers declining due to habitat loss, shrinking prey, and human conflict. Strong conservation is crucial for their survival, and protecting lions also safeguards ecosystems.

Margaret, one of #Loisaba’s black rhinos. Translocated from Nairobi National Park in 2024 in partnership with #KWS, she represents the success of combined conservation efforts. Today, Margaret and her fellow rhinos are thriving and contributing to a sustainable population.

In the foreground, a striped hyena. In the distance, Ekwang — one of Loisaba’s eastern black rhinos. Rhinos are a flagship & umbrella species. The high-level protection they require safeguards the entire landscape — benefiting quieter species like striped hyenas too.

A baby #hippo's favourite place? Right on top of mum! Hippos give birth underwater after 8 months and can nurse while submerged. They face threats like habitat loss and human conflict. At #Loisaba, protecting water sources ensures hippos thrive alongside other species.

The secretary bird is an Endangered raptor in Africa due to habitat loss and human disturbance. Named in the 1800s for its feather resemblance to secretaries' quills, it hunts on foot using powerful kicks. Protecting grasslands at Loisaba Conservancy is vital for their survival.

❤️ This Valentine’s Day, we’re celebrating Valentine 🦏 The 1st rhino calf born at #Loisaba after the 2024 translocation — and the first born here in over 50 years. Named at our 14 Feb “Welcome Home Rhinos” celebration, his birth proved the rhinos had settled & were thriving.
