Where are they all? The Eisner fan boys? Tell me how amazing they are for this club! Tell me about the enormous investment they've made over the last decade that equates to a couple million each year? Tell me how amazing FP looks and that our training facilities, etc are top class? Tell me the injuries are just bad luck. Tell me the Jan was a success. Tell me how they've made good their 2017 promises then back it up with evidence? Tell me the @PFC_Coalition are wrong?
You can't do any of the above. Finally, after years of insufficient investment and cheap alternatives the realisation of what we are is hitting home.
The way we're structured, the way we behave, the way we conduct our transfers, the way we pay ourselves on the back for small investments like training ground goals posts and sprinkler systems, the way our CEO speaks and his attitude towards the above means we are a lower league club. Historically not, of course. Historically and our natural position is the top two tiers (prodominantly Championship) but not right now.
All of our peers, bar Oxford (who have plans) all generate income on non match days, have decent enough facilities and academies and have owners who take calculated risks on growth to enable them to win promotion and stay there. Even half of League One are more advanced than we are.
All they had to do was spend big at the start. They said they're hear for generations so why not plunge £100m in, build that North Stand with corporate boxes, hotels and other things that can generate money off the field, extensively revamp the training ground instead of tarting up what the trust got us. Even the club shop is just a sorry state of a few Pompey calendars and cuddly toys and a load of Nike shite with a Pompey badge slapped on it.
The whole club absolutely reeks of League One and whether we like it or not, that is precisely where we belong until they either sell up or start investing some serious money and stop making brain dead excuses about bridges and god knows what else they want to conjure up. No other club in the country needs a bridge directly from a train station or can't develop their ground because of a congested road. They're waiting to piggyback the redevelopment of the area, which will never happen, so they can get a load of stuff for free.
Get ready for Stevenage, Cambridge and Burton again because they're coming.
