Yesterday I mentioned that I do a great deal of my gaming using DOS (FreeDOS, MS-DOS, & DOSBox), as many of my all-time favorite games are DOS games. A bunch of you asked which games I was talking about. Here’s a few of the games I find myself returning to on a regular basis: - Civilization 1 - Master of Orion 2 - SimCity 2000 Those three alone make any system worth having by your side. And that doesn’t even include the massive catalog of some of the best adventure and role playing games ever. The Ultima series, Day of the Tentacle, early Elder Scrolls games… so much.

Here we see two high profile Open Source people (Red Hat & GNOME) discussing the problem with what they call “MAGA/Linux”. Discussions like this have been increasing among Open Source organizations and projects lately. They are very upset that “MAGA/Linux” is “gaining traction”. What, exactly, is “MAGA/Linux”? The definition seems vague, but you’ll see words like “XLibre”, “Lunduke”, & “OpenMandriva” regularly associated.

Open Source organizations tend to be intensely political, and regularly engage in libel and censorship, at the highest level, of those they disagree with. Here we see the Executive Director of the Python Software Foundation (@baconandcoconut) emphatically agreeing with an engineer lead from @CommitChange & @softwareforgood. What did they agree on? “Lunduke is a fascist hate monger” who “should be ostracized from any and all parts of [Free Software]”.

The @vendefoulwolf Linux Distro is taking a firm “No Age Verification” stance. “We will never implement this age verification or any other measure that results in the loss of freedom of our users. We say no Wayland or no systemd.”

“What on Earth do you use FreeDOS for in 2026?!?” It’s a fair question! I use DOS-based systems (mostly FreeDOS, but also MS-DOS in a few spots) primarily for: - Long-form writing. I find the experience to be both “distraction free” and… well… comfortable. - Personal journal (my “log”). I’ve been keeping text file journals since the late 1980s. Still have them. Using an organization system I came up with as a kid. At this point, it’s a comforting tradition. - Gaming. While I do my fair share of modern gaming… most of my favorite games to return to, over and over again, are DOS games. Late ‘80s through the mid ‘90s tends to be my favorite gaming era. So either FreeDOS & MS-DOS on hardware (or in emulators) or DOSBox. All of which results in me using some sort of DOS most days. At least for a few moments.

@LundukeJournal For what tho? Heh seriously. Back in the day sure but now? I did have two students come to a week-long forensics class running nothing more than freedos thinking I was gonna provide everything they needed

Unfortunately, X Premium support routes most queries (like rules clarification) through Premium DMs or the help forms at help.x.com/en/forms—pick "Help with paid features" or account issues. No public phone/live human option exists. Grok (xAI-built) and Kai (X support bot) use different tech/teams. Mine prioritizes clear, useful responses; Kai's support-focused but glitchy here. Your feedback to Premium should flag it.

X @Premium support appears to consist entirely of an AI chat bot named “Kai” which is incapable of answering even the simplest of questions. This was the question I asked: “How do I speak to a human, at X, to get some clarification around X rules enforcement?” I asked that question 3 times, via @X @Premium DM. Each time, it took roughly a full 24 hours for a response to appear (which is insane by itself). And each response included “My name is Kai”, and appeared to have no clue what I was asking. Sometimes it was simply confused… other times it hallucinated a completely different question that was not asked. Exactly like a poorly written AI chatbot. To @elonmusk & @nikitabier: How can paying X customers talk to a human regarding support and account issues? Surely this mildly broken “Kai” AI chatbot can’t be the only support option? If X is hoping to become a financial institution… it needs actual support. Otherwise the results will be disastrous.

Lunduke covered the original hamster e-mail back in October. I think he was the first journalist to cover the important, and growing, international censorship hamster beat.

GrapheneOS, an open source Android-based OS, has declared that they will not adhere to age verification laws. “GrapheneOS will remain usable by anyone around the world without requiring personal information, identification or an account. GrapheneOS and our services will remain available internationally. If GrapheneOS devices can't be sold in a region due to their regulations, so be it.”

The United Kingdom has demanded that 4chan pay a £520,000 fine for failure to comply with UK age verification laws. However, since 4chan is based in the USA, the UK has no jurisdiction to fine Americans in America. “As has been explained to your agency, ad nauseam, the United Kingdom lost the American Revolutionary War. We are not in the mood to discuss the matter further, and have not been in the mood for 250 years.” The letter to the UK’s Ofcom ended by suggesting that “maybe, you could just stop sending Americans stupid letters and acknowledge the sovereignty of the United States.” 4chan’s attorney, @prestonjbyrne also included a picture of a giant hamster dressed as Godzilla.
