Failure to suspend Israel from Eurovision, as it continues to commit genocide in Gaza, unlawful occupation and apartheid against Palestinians, is an act of cowardice and double standards. #HumanityMustWin Read more: amn.st/6016BBSR1u

🚨 URGENT: An Israeli court has ordered the continued detention of Saif Abu Keshek and Thiago Ávila for an additional two days, yet another example of how the Israeli judicial system is used to legitimize arbitrary detention rather than curb it. @amnesty has repeatedly exposed how Israeli military and civilian courts facilitate grave human rights violations, including torture, prolonged arbitrary detention, and the punishment of human rights defenders, especially Palestinians and those who show solidarity with them. These courts are not safeguards; they are an integral part of the machinery of occupation and apartheid. The ongoing detention of Saif and Thiago is illegal and retaliatory. Their detention fits a widely documented pattern in which Israel criminalizes peaceful activism and uses baseless "security" accusations to silence dissent. States must not remain passive. Spain and Brazil have an obligation to protect their nationals from arbitrary detention and abuses. The governments of @sanchezcastejon and @LulaOficial must continue to act with urgency, demand constant access, and ensure the immediate release of their citizens. The lack of intervention amounts to tolerating violations of international law. At a time when the @CIJ_ICJ has affirmed the illegality of the Israeli occupation, the inaction of states is not neutrality: it is complicity.

There are grave concerns for the safety of the around 175 activists arbitrarily detained and being transported to Israel, after their vessels were boarded in international waters near Greece and Israel jammed their communication channels, severing their ability to coordinate or ask for help. This underscores the dangerous consequences of decades of impunity for Israel’s ongoing atrocity crimes against Palestinians, including genocide in the Gaza Strip and apartheid, and its unlawful occupation of Palestinian territory. The crew of the intercepted vessels must be immediately and unconditionally released. While in custody, the Israeli authorities must ensure that all activists are immediately granted access to consular support, treated humanely and protected from torture and other ill-treatment.

By putting the EU-Israel trade deal before human life, the EU puts profit before people. Italy and Germany continue to block the suspension of the EU-Israel Association Agreement. But change is vital. One million people in Europe, 75 NGOs, 400 diplomats and officials, Belgium, Ireland, Slovenia and Spain are calling for the suspension of the EU-Israel trade agreement. Sign our petition: amn.st/6017BBDdcT Demand @giorgiameloni and @bundeskanzler show integrity and stop greenlighting Israel’s genocide in Gaza, and unlawful occupation of the Occupied Palestinian Territory and apartheid over all Palestinians. Humanity must win.

🚨France’s decision to deny entry to Shawan Jabarin, veteran Palestinian human rights leader and General Director of @AlHaq_org, is a blatant assault on human rights. At @Amnesty, we join our sister organizations, including @fidh_en, @ASF_NGO, @EuroMedRights, in condemning this grave assault on the right to defend human rights and access international advocacy spaces. This decision cannot be seen in isolation. It reflects a widening campaign to criminalize Palestinian civil society, from travel bans and smear campaigns to US sanctions imposed on @AlHaq_org, @AlMezanCenter and @pchrgaza for their legitimate engagement with the @IntlCrimCourt. Punishing organizations for documenting atrocities and seeking justice is a direct attack on international law and the global human rights system. #France must immediately reverse this decision, allow Shawan Jabarin to travel freely, and reject all attempts to undermine Palestinian human rights organizations under the guise of security. Silencing those who document crimes only entrenches impunity. amnesty.org/en/latest/news…

The Global Sumud Flotilla will once again set sail in a coordinated civilian initiative aim at breaking Israel’s unlawful blockade on the occupied Gaza Strip. It is a powerful symbol of international solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza, who are enduring an ongoing genocide and an inhumane blockade now approaching its 19th year. Israeli authorities must ensure safe passage for these unarmed activists and human rights defenders. The Spring 2026 flotilla arrives amid a dire humanitarian crisis. Six months on since the so-called ceasefire agreement in October 2025 and despite a reduction in the scale of attacks, Israel persists in its genocidal acts against Palestinians in Gaza by continuing to deliberately inflict conditions of life calculated to bring about their physical destruction.

Breaking: Today's mass arrests of peaceful protesters in Trafalgar Square under UK terrorism law are yet another blow to civil liberties in this country - and made all the more outrageous by the Metropolitan Police's own U-turn. The High Court ruled in February that the proscription of Palestine Action was unlawful. The Met rightly said it would stop making arrests. It has now gone back to its old, failed policy - mass arrests of people holding pieces of card, including today an elderly woman with walking sticks. This is not policing. This is the state criminalising dissent. Take action now with thousands of other Amnesty International supporters and sign the petition to end all prosecutions against these peaceful protesters. amn.st/6015B60qQv

It’s been 456 days since Dr Hussam Abu Safiya, the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, was arbitrarily detained by Israeli forces. He’s been held without charge or trial, and has been subjected to ill-treatment. Israeli authorities must immediately and unconditionally release him and all Palestinians held in arbitrary detention. “I hope people remember that Hind had a dream. Her dream was to be a doctor and treat all the children of Gaza.” - Wesam Hamada, Hind Rajab’s mother. Today is Mother’s Day in the UK. Today, ‘The Voice of Hind Rajab’ is up for an Oscar. Listen to Hind Rajab’s mother and her simple ask: for the lives of Palestinian children to be protected, as if it were your own. Do not stop talking about Gaza. The genocide is ongoing. The UK government is failing to help prevent and punish Israel’s genocide in Gaza.

Israel’s decision to drop charges against five Israeli soldiers accused of abusing and sexually assaulting Palestinian detainees is another shocking reminder of a system built to shield perpetrators of grave crimes against Palestinians. With @netanyahu celebrating impunity and 98 Palestinians dead in custody since October 2023, not a single independent investigation has been opened. Only one soldier has faced sentencing despite overwhelming evidence of torture and sexual violence. The world cannot look away. Palestinians are being denied even the smallest measure of justice. States must step up and back the @IntlCrimCourt's investigation, because international justice is all that’s left. 🔗amnesty.org/en/latest/news…

Amid rapidly escalating hostilities after US–Israel strikes on Iran, and Iran’s retaliatory attacks, @Amnesty International urges all parties to protect civilians and comply with international humanitarian law. Civilians should not pay the price for the unlawful and reckless acts by parties to the conflict, ravaging the principles of humanity and distinction at the heart of international humanitarian law and threatening the very foundations of international peace and security. The stakes could not be higher. 🔗 Read more: amnesty.org/en/latest/news…

As an Iranian, I would love to celebrate the death of that piece of shit. But I feel I debase myself by cheering an execution carried out by a vulgar genocide state, then circulated for applause across the smug timelines of European racists. Sorry. But fuck all of it.

🇺🇦 Four years since #Russia’s full‑scale invasion, the suffering of civilians in #Ukraine is reaching its most devastating point yet. Russian forces continue to torture prisoners of war, terrorize and deport civilians in the occupied territories, destroy critical infrastructure needed for survival, and demand even more Ukrainian territory as part of so‑called “peace” talks. Millions have been displaced. Countless families shattered. Meanwhile, global resolve is wavering, and some powerful states are even minimizing Russia’s responsibility for crimes under international law. This is the moment to be unequivocal: Injustice cannot be normalized. Impunity cannot be the foundation of any peace proposal. The world must stand firm with #Ukraine’s victims. Pressuring Ukraine to compromise on justice or accept Russia’s demands is as morally repugnant as it is unlawful. Read @amnesty statement: amnesty.org/en/latest/news…
