In a recent expedition along the Atlantic coast of Honduras, our team made a remarkable discovery. We encountered a juvenile Atlantic sixgill shark (Hexanchus vitulus) bearing one of our tags at a depth of 230 meters (755 feet)!

A groundbreaking study published in Science has brought to light a concerning reality for #deepwater sharks and rays worldwide. The research reveals that numerous species inhabiting depths beyond 200 meters (~650 feet) are teetering on the edge of #extinction due to #overfishing.
