I think they should make two different coaching licences for each level. 1. Step 1 - only for managing 1 match a week. 2. Step 2 - if you will be expected to manage more than 1 match a week. Imagine a professional manager needing ‘more experience’ before they are ready to manage a team for 2 matches a week. So how does Michael Carrick get more experience to manage a Champions League team? 🤔 Oh. Maybe manage a Champions League team? 🤷🏽‍♂️

Kids & youth football is no joke. We have the opportunity to make a difference in young human lives. Constant reflection & evaluation helps to improve in areas we can do better, & always remember (me included), every word & action has the potential to set positive or negative vibes.

How do challenges of coaching kids / youths in tournaments & games compare to coaching adults and pros? Coaching any type of player and team should be challenging. That’s why we are needed. And we must be ready 💯

Many coaches will say on their CV ‘adaptable’, but can you look like you’re shouting at U9 girls whilst playing a line breaking pass on a rainy evening in Taipei? Having an academy with teams from U6 to senior team and girls only teams from U9 to U14 ( Taipei Breakers), there is a world of experiences waiting to develop your ‘adaptability’ on a daily basis 🤩💜

MFA U10 v MFA U9 today in a league match in Taipei. It was an exciting game My U10 team had a player less and because I can sometimes be a normal thinking human, I put conditions on our players to make it a good learning experience for both teams. 🤩 Thanks Coach Luis!

Today we arrived, did our ball mastery and went straight into small sided games. Happy faces all round and MASSIVE amounts of play time! (Including the scissors, paper, rock in the background 🤣🤣)

Building environments that people want to be around, are very important in football and especially kids & youth football 💜🚀

Brilliant result for the lads today! Won the playoffs and now off to the Victory League National Finals in Kaohsiung, Taiwan 💪🏽 ⚽️ Also we’ve been working on counter attacks in training, so this winning goal was a pleasure to see!

After a game where the attitudes weren’t at its normal level, nothing like a post-match Q&A on a hill to fix it 🤣 But seriously, I gave them a chance to speak about how they feel, what things we did well and what areas we could improve.

This is a brutal way to settle a tied knockout match instead of a penalty shootout: In our recent U10 1/4 final match in Singapore tournament, it finished 1-1, so we had to do the following as a tie breaker until goal was scored): 1️⃣ 3v3 for 1 minute (1 gk player allowed) 2️⃣ 2v2 for 1 minute (1 gk player allowed) 3️⃣ 1v1 u til goal is scored (can use hands as gk) Our lad was brilliant all game, drove through with skill and speed on the 1v1, hit a beautiful strike, only for it to ping off the crossbar. Player dribbles in from goal kick, kicks the ball long and it slowly trickles into our net. We are out 😞

I watched over 25 youth games last weekend and I would say 90% of the coaches, were having a negative impact on their little humans. I know it won’t happen any time soon, but coaches, please stop screaming and shouting at your children to control their actions 🤦🏽‍♂️

1v1 to decide a knockout game is brutal! Our u13s also made it to the semi-finals of the JSSL Youth football tournament in Singapore ⚽️💜
