@MaxROIFarmer @NickEhlers01 @nopolitics555 My point is maybe 900 million in 4 years could go a long ways in fixing a lot of our public school issues. The private schools will only raise tuition the same amount as voucher, then who's the winner?
English

@mattcham37 @NickEhlers01 @nopolitics555 Do they offer scholarship programs for kids not in the area to be able to utilize it?
If they do, then all the state of Iowa is doing is making it possible for more kids to have that experience and go to a school like that, if they don’t, the voucher program is the only way
English

@MaxROIFarmer @NickEhlers01 @nopolitics555 Most of its funding comes from private businesses. It's definitely a step in the right direction for public schools. I would encourage you to take a tour if you're in the Des Moines area. You'll be blown away
English

@NickEhlers01 @nopolitics555 @mattcham37 But the simple fact is, at least “here” our public schools as a general rule aren’t even doing the basics well, for a number of reasons certainly
Something needs to change, the “system” has no incentive to improve, regardless of individual teacher/district intentions
English

@MaxROIFarmer @NickEhlers01 @nopolitics555 I would encourage you to google "Des Moines Public Schools Central Campus". This is a good example of what funding can do for public education. This campus is focused entirely on the trades. They have an aviation school, a farm, culinary arts, health services, and many others.
English

@MaxROIFarmer @NickEhlers01 @nopolitics555 Isn't tax payer money going to a religious school essentially "compelling" taxpayers to support a religion? That money will then be used to promote the religion? Another reason this bill shouldn't be fast tracked. To many possible consequences
English

@mattcham37 @NickEhlers01 @nopolitics555 the “separation” is that the government cannot establish a state religion or compel taxpayers to support a religiont…in this, case assuming a school is founded and meets what ever requirements of a “school” their state requires…the religion or lack thereof is moot
English

@MaxROIFarmer @NickEhlers01 @nopolitics555 Separation of church and state comes to mind, but then again we only concern ourselves with the constitution when it fits our own narrative. 🙄
English

@NickEhlers01 @mattcham37 @nopolitics555 They are also exposed to the market, parents who don’t like the results are free to move their kids
And we have all kinds of government benchmarks and control for private industry, including our own
English

@nopolitics555 @MaxROIFarmer @NickEhlers01 So you're ok using tax payer dollars fund private svhools so they can push their own agenda? What if a satanic private school is created and the government uses tax payer dollars to send kids to this school? I'm all in for the tax dollar to follow the kid within the public system
English

@MaxROIFarmer @NickEhlers01 @mattcham37 School choice is the ultimate accountability to remind government workers exactly who works for whom.
English

@MaxROIFarmer @NickEhlers01 Where does it leave public schools when tax payer dollars are used by private schools to hand pick the best students? Creates a huge disparity in the schools.
English

@NickEhlers01 @mattcham37 I think if it gives the option for kids in low income areas to access schools that they couldn’t currently it’s worth a shot, and it allows parents who are currently paying taxes for a school they don’t want to send their kids to to get some benefit
English

@MaxROIFarmer @NickEhlers01 $258,000,000 will go to kids currently in private school. That is new money that comes from state fund. You can't tell me $258 mil wouldn't help iowa public schools. There is also nothing to keep the private schools from raising their tuition to grab the $7600.
English

@MikeZevenbergen @Winterquistboys And they should because they can pick and choose students.
English

@Winterquistboys You’re not going to like the answer to that. Private schools outperform across the board.
