There is such little web3 gaming posts I'm now forced to search accounts to like and retweet. I'm still supportin and while the number of games is getting to less than a handful of games that I think can break out I'm still rooting for @ParallelTCG @ParallelColony @PlayWildcard @limitbreak @origins_tcg and of course our own game @MAYGnft. We just need 1 game to start it again, even if you've lost the faith peons, this is how the game is actually won.

If you have a question about what we are making, just ask. Our game and objective doesn't fit into an expected playbook and we know that. But we are still swinging for the fences of the fulfilling the promises of web3. It doesn't matter if web3 gaming is a dirty word, or if web3 gaming is dead as an industry. It doesn't matter to us if no one believes in web3 gaming or hates it. Few understood what we doing, and we've always been contrarian even within web3. Our mission has always been to make an open economy forever game and for us web3 represents the core mechanism to see that happen. We're coming close to the end of our soft launch period, fixing some critical bugs, gotten data that shows our model is moving the right direction and on CT we're not here to recruit players. We were never here to just survive or get validated by others, but we've always been here to build and make something special. An open economy forever game.
MAYG - My Angry Yakuza Girlfriend@MAYGnft

At the heart of MAYG isn't a game. It's a love letter of gaming that is experimental, ridiculous, competitive and revolutionary in its scope to create an open economy game. That's really hard to see with just a cursory glance at our core game and applying the current gaming lens of what is right or expected. As a web3 game, the tokens and NFTs are not just features, but is what is the foundation for our economy. Along with the expansion of the IP and puts the player firmly at the center of the game at all levels. To make the gameplay, the mechanics, balance and revenue model to make that actually work as designed, it's as hard as it gets, but also a beautiful vision, a forever game. Game dev is hard, it's technically hard, it's frustrating because every unexpected thing happens and until you get to a point where the game is optimized, all the core features are stable, and most of all, it really has to speak at a cultural identity level to the player. This represents years of our developer's lives and all their hopes and dreams. Games are cultural works of art that are social, interactive and exciting with the added expectation that there is something to drive a player to come back to that game over and over. No other art form has such a high expectation. Finish a book or TV series, the work is done, but you're never really finished a game until you've done everything you can to get to that expectation. Then make it multiplayer and competitive and an open economy, you're looking a live ops, dev ops, token ops, along with the opportunity to expand it's IP and ecosystem scope. As we get closer to releasing our second last soft launch build, we're still at least a month out from our official hard launch date for a feature complete core game to be the foundation of the entire open economy. No one is left in web3 gaming, content creators are gone, web3 gaming traders are gone, no one thinks that a floating token can work, and, no one thinks that any game has a chance this tail end of the cycle that started in 2021. But crypto exists, NFTs haven't lost their promise, and even if there are no 'web3 gamers' left on CT there are millions of gamers still searching for new games that truly call to them. It's easy to safe confidently everything has been done, the play books didn't work out and gamers want this or that, but you also see the disillusion in the greater gaming industry. Yet there are still breakout games by passionate teams still hit their mark every week. As AI production tools become even more efficient, the cost of execution also decreases, but also the scope of what is possible also increases. It's not just that there isn't a better time to make games, there hasn't been a better time to swing for the fences and make something truly special. But with all cultural works of art, it is the human spirit that is the north star, the spark that touches the soul that makes something enduring and loved. Our scale of our project is extremely hard to see at the moment, it's one of those things that needs to seen to be believed, and we get that. We've taken the hardest path here, because it was the only one that made sense. And every rejection or simply being ignored hasn't fazed us because this game has always been a love letter for gamers. Fight for love. *** If you'd like to know more about what we're doing, follow our lead game designer @SinjinMAYG, make a post and tag him with your question, we are looking for those players who are looking to be part of something special.

I've been in web3 gaming from May 2021, launched my studio in Sept 2021, our collection in Dec 2022 and been in @WolvesDAO since March 2023. I've seen it all. And being a founder, I didn't always express my critical views openly about the vast majority of projects that I was sure had zero merit. In that I've disagreed with nearly everyone in web3 gaming and in wolvesdao even. I've actually been a gaming executive, opened new markets to new game genres, done game design since 2014, esports since 1998 and even had a nation fintech company acquired by Alibaba. But being old and literally being the single dissenting voice, well, I just walk the walk and get on with it. Plus, as a founder, I'm well aware we're all in glass houses here. That being said, if I was going to a 5 case studies on why these games failed, from a game design or exec pov, which 5 case studies would you like to see and why do you think they are key? I'm thinking of doing this because I still see a lot of bs on the timeline of those still around who actually are responsible for 95% of the bs in the industry saying the stupidest shit and not only are they impostors and talking out of their asses, it's annoying AF. Since these projects are now long gone, and at least I want some reference out there so the gaslighting and revisionist history doesn't just have the last say in this. So peons, let me know which failed project you would like some real color and let me show you what a real analysis looks like from someone who isn't an imposter and actually knows what they're talking about. Give me your top 5 projects you'd like to see in this series. They have to be a dead game and at the time had consensus that it was the next breakout or sure thing.

I’m 51. I got zero regret spending so much of my younger years partying and drinking. The freshest, most youthful days of my life are filled with irreplacable memories. Thank god I've lived life to the fullest with no fucks given. If you’re 20, you'll lock in. It only gets easier as you age.

This clip can sound blunt at first, but Sinjin’s point is simple. MAYG isn’t designed as a typical play-to-earn game. Gameplay comes first, economy second. More of a long-term “forever game” experience.

I do know this clip comes out especially harsh, but when you fail because of incompetence there are no learnings. Because of this, most people outside of web3 gaming have dismissed it entirely - rightly so - based off the fact that every attempt at making web3 gaming work were just superficial attempts. Reading through so many exit posts of why the web3 game was shutting down, it has been so clear in the last year that most of these guys had no idea about basic economic gameplay design. They blamed players, vcs, their own community - they talked about not finding PMF, but none of them talked about the fact that they didn't have working model for the floating value token they had. Then it's easy to just say, 'ok this can't work with a floating token', yet if you looked at their design, it was never going to work in the first place. It's not hindsight 20/20, if the design doesn't work, its not going to miraculously work later because you raised or got players in. It's as if you made a car and the engine has a design that won't go past 60mph, then you need to drive it +60mp and it overheats and breaks down. It's not going to suddenly out perform its design or specs. Game economies need to be integrated with the game loop when it has a floating token - that's the economic engine and really, if you didn't get the design right, then everything else, no matter how good, was going to inevitably fail. Great graphics, smooth gameplay, fun game - there were games that check that off, including tones of players, but if the game's token gets to the point of oversupply pushing the token price down 90%, I mean, to think that wasn't going to be the outcome, its pure incompetence.
