Today, I announced a sweeping set of changes designed to make it faster and easier to build housing and open businesses across Los Angeles. The reforms in Executive Directive 19 will reduce delays in City approval processes, simplify permitting, and speed up the building of housing units citywide.
When I came into office, I inherited one of the worst housing shortages in the country and a city where more than half of renters struggle to pay their bills. I’ve also heard from too many Angelenos about how hard the City can make it to open a business. We’ve made real progress in delivering relief, and today represents another leap forward.

Today, we join the Armenian community here in Los Angeles and around the world to remember the victims of the Armenian Genocide.
We honor the lives lost, the families torn apart, and the generations who have carried this history forward with strength and dignity. We also recognize the resilience of Armenian Angelenos, whose contributions have helped shape our City’s culture, economy, and civic life in lasting ways.
Los Angeles is home to one of the largest Armenian communities outside of Armenia. Their story is part of our City’s story. From small businesses to the arts, from education to public service, Armenian Angelenos continue to enrich every corner of our City.
As we remember, we also reaffirm our commitment to truth, to justice, and to standing against hate in all its forms. We stand with our Armenian community today and every day.

Happy Earth Day!
Los Angeles is at the epicenter of global climate leadership. My administration has taken decisive action to create a greener, more sustainable city, because that is what Angelenos deserves – and we can’t afford to wait.
From eliminating coal in our power supply to launching my Climate Action Plan, I’m committed to building a greener Los Angeles that bolsters local job growth and protects our future.

We’ve already made L.A. coal-free, opened one of the largest solar and battery storage facilities in the country, and doubled the number of EV chargers in Los Angeles. With this plan, we’re doubling down on that progress and moving full steam ahead to clean our air, create green jobs, and build a more sustainable city. We’re not just setting goals, we’re delivering results. And we’re showing the country, and the world, what’s possible with bold climate leadership.

I want to recognize our teachers, cafeteria workers, administrators, special education assistants, custodians, bus drivers, and other dedicated workers who show up for our children every single day. Their work is essential, and they deserve a fair contract. Today, that commitment has been met.
I am grateful to everyone who stayed at the table and worked together to put our families first.

I joined negotiations to push for a resolution, because a strike would have placed an enormous burden on working families across this city.
The people who educate and care for our children carry one of the greatest responsibilities there is. They deserve respect, they deserve stability, and they deserve a fair agreement.
Now we have one. Thank you to everyone who came together to put families first.

Los Angeles is home to one of the oldest Holocaust museums in the country. Founded by survivors, Holocaust Museum LA is dedicated to memory, education, and truth.
We gathered for Yom HaShoah to remember the six million Jewish souls and countless others who perished in the Holocaust. It is a profound privilege to still be able to hear directly from survivors, to learn from them, and carry their stories forward. In a moment like this, when fear and hatred are on the rise, there is a moral urgency to listen.
It is more important now than ever to preserve this history and educate future generations.

I’m pleased that Baywatch will continue to film right here on Venice Beach. When I heard there were issues with Baywatch filming in Los Angeles, my Office took immediate action with Councilmember Park to clear any City-related barriers, including making parking easier and more affordable for the production.
This was a team effort, among my Office, Councilmember Park’s Office, the County, Coastal Commission, Fremantle and FOX, and I’m thankful for this continued partnership.
The City of Los Angeles will always clear bureaucratic barriers, making it easier and more affordable to film in the entertainment capital of the world.

Today, we announced a historic investment to address Los Angeles’ housing crisis, more than $300 million in affordable housing funding and an additional $14 million to help renters to stay housed.
For decades, Angelenos have been forced to bear the burden of rising rents and eviction notices because City Hall failed to deliver housing and support for tenants. We are changing that broken system.
