UPDATE: Mbarara University of Science and Technology(@MbararaUST) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Housing and Construction Company(@NHCC_UG) and the National Enterprise Corporation(@NECUPDF) to construct a structure housing the College of Health Sciences. According to the Vice Chancellor Prof. @PbyakikaPauline, the project will start with Phase One, covering the School of Biomedical Sciences and the College of Health Sciences administration block, at a cost of 96.7bn Ugandan shillings. Collaboration in action It is a privilege to have @OpeloTshekiso, a @CarnegieMellon alumnus, working side-by-side with our facilitators during today’s demonstration. This reflects true teamwork, blending expert insights with hands-on support to ensure every student masters digital tools for scientific research. Stronger together, building the next generation of scholars.

The Publishing Masterclass Training, held under the National Conference on Communications (NCC 2026) pre-conference activities at @MbararaUST, was moderated by the university's senior communications officer, Ms. Angella Nakato Muyingo.

As the masterclass session wrapped up, it was noted that the energy at MUST reflected a strong commitment to the future of research. Appreciation was extended to Makerere University and the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) for bringing the training to the campus. It was emphasized that equipping scholars with the anatomy of a research paper and digital publishing tools represents a game-changer for institutional visibility and scientific impact in Uganda.

Mentorship in motion. It is all hands on deck during the demonstration session as Dr. Adones Rukundo moves from desk to desk, offering hands-on guidance to students. Seeing senior experts simplify complex research tools for the next generation of scholars reflects true academic leadership in action.

Turning theory into practice! There is a different kind of energy in the room when students shift from listening to doing. Under the guidance of Dr. Edwin Mugume, scholars are gaining hands-on experience with digital tools for scientific publishing. From managing complex citations to working through collaborative writing platforms, participants are building practical skills that transform strong research into world-class publications.

The digital transformation of research is here. Dr. Edwin Mugume is leading a high-impact session on how to leverage digital tools to streamline scientific publishing. From automating citations to enabling collaborative writing, participants are learning how to work smarter, not harder, in both the lab and on the page. A step forward in future-proofing research, one tool at a time.

The faces say it all. Knowledge is not just being shared; it is being absorbed. There was incredible energy during today’s session on research publications, where participants showed deep focus and engagement. They are clearly ready to take the world of informatics by storm.

The attentive silence as participants absorbed the key elements of academic publishing reflected what true academic excellence looks like in practice.
