Iranian authorities later arrested him, accused him of embezzling roughly €2.7 billion in oil revenues, and sentenced him to death before eventually releasing him years later. Now he is back. According to the US Treasury’s 2026 designation, he was effectively released to continue supporting regime financial operations through crypto exchanges and new digital ventures. His exchanges reportedly processed tens of billions in transactions, including links to IRGC-associated wallets. Now the same network is moving into social media, blockchain platforms, and mass account ecosystems. People should stop pretending these projects are normal startups. The Islamic Republic has spent years building cyber capabilities, influence networks, propaganda infrastructure, and parallel internet systems.
