Almost no one talks about the third factor: infrastructure. Data centers already consume enormous amounts of electricity and water just for cooling. That’s why matching the right processor to the right workload actually matters. @quipnetwork routes each job to the architecture best suited for it: CPU, GPU or quantum, instead of forcing everything onto the same hardware. Better allocation isn’t only about performance and lower costs. It also means less wasted compute and more efficient use of energy and water. Efficient compute is the real edge.

I've started spending more time reading about quantum computing. Not because I expect it to dominate tomorrow, but because I don't want to ignore a technology that could have a meaningful impact over time. @quipnetwork has been one of the projects that pushed me to learn more.

Happy Saturday, CT! 👋 I see some people mention that @quipnetwork combines quantum hardware with classical CPU/GPU nodes while classical CPU/GPU nodes verify the results. I wondered how that could work. A classical computer obviously can't efficiently reproduce a quantum computation (e.g. Shor's algorithm). After looking through Quip's public documentation, the current design became clearer. For Quip's current Ising Proof of Useful Work (the Ising model is an optimization problem widely used in physics and computer science), validators don't solve the optimization problem again. Instead, they recreate the same optimization task, recompute the energy of the submitted solutions, and verify that they satisfy the required validation rules. The expensive part is finding a good solution. Verifying already submitted one is much cheaper. That's how I understand the current implementation. What do you think? x.com/MerlinWind/sta…

Happy Friday☀️ A little quantum computing history today 🧵 1/ In 1980, physicist Paul Benioff described a computer operating according to quantum mechanics. 2/ In 1985, David Deutsch described a universal quantum computer. Then, in 1994, Peter Shor introduced an algorithm that could theoretically factor large numbers much faster than known classical methods. Quantum computing was no longer just an unusual physics idea. 3/ But building real hardware proved much harder. D-Wave, founded in 1999, became the first commercial supplier of quantum computers. Later, IBM, Google and others developed their own approaches. 4/ Still, quantum computers have not replaced classical machines. Current quantum hardware is noisy, difficult to scale and useful only for specific problems. For most everyday tasks, CPUs and GPUs are still faster, cheaper and more practical. 5/ In 2016, IBM opened cloud access to a real quantum computer. This allowed people outside major laboratories to experiment with quantum hardware, but access remained fragmented across different providers and platforms. 6/ Now, in 2026, @quipnetwork is building toward a decentralized marketplace connecting quantum hardware amd classical nodes, developers and users. Small improvements make infrastructure stronger. @quipnetwork Node Manager v0.2.2 improves Docker image handling after the recent repository rename, helping node updates run more smoothly. They surveyed people selected from telephone directories, automobile registration lists, and the magazine's subscriber list to quickly collect a massive amount of data. However, they overlooked the fact that this sample mainly represented wealthier Americans rather than all electorate. On election day, voters came from all social groups. As a result, the forecast was biased and later became one of the bestknown examples of sampling bias in statistics.

For some reason, today's thoughts about fairness and bias reminded me of a famous Data Science story. In 1936, The Literary Digest surveyed 2.4 million people to predict the US presidential election. It got the result completely wrong. Not because there wasn't enough data, but because the sample wasn't representative of the electorate. A good reminder that collecting data isn't enough. You also need to make sure your sample represents reality (Still true for AI training data, eligibility snapshots, and almost everything else we do). What modern examples of sampling bias have you seen?

I was running out of disk space on my VPS because the validator data had grown really large. So today I switched my @quipnetwork node from archive to pruned mode. The validator data dropped to 6 GB, so the storage issue is finally solved. My node can now run 24/7 on the latest version without stopping for disk cleanup. Wishing everyone stable nodes🦋

The future of advanced computing won’t be defined by power alone. Trust will matter just as much. What caught my attention about @quipnetwork is how it approaches a problem most new technologies run into: How do you use powerful infrastructure without giving up control over sensitive data? Blending privacy-preserving compute with verifiable compliance feels like a step in the right direction. For industries dealing with critical data, the questions are changing. It’s no longer just: “Can we process this?” It becomes: “Where was it processed, how was it handled, and who stays in control?” What stands out to me is that access alone is not enough. When compute becomes more powerful, people need confidence in how that power is being used. That’s the layer where projects like quipnetwork become interesting to watch. As compute becomes more distributed and regulated, privacy and transparency will need to go hand in hand. The projects that stand out won’t just offer more power. They’ll offer more confidence in how that power is used.
