We've got a really cool & radically different version of V8 coming very soon. The prev version was called "V8 Alpha", but im not sure if anyone knows what a "alpha" is anymore. I'm trying to decide if the next one should be called V8 Beta or V8 or just V8.1. What do you think?

@midjourney @laf131 Wait. What? No. Just no. If we have a long prompt. It’s a long prompt for a reason. You’re confusing everyone. Short prompt reaction very differently on V8, so I need longer prompts to fully describe everything. Is this an early April fools joke?

why is there a 1300 character limit on v8 @midjourney ? not complaining, just thought it was weird.

@PetruskaHQ @domehouse79 @laf131 256 tokens is basically 256 words, that's pretty long! not sure it's fair to say only people who put more than 256 words into a single prompt are loyal or creative

@laf131 @jadenitripp Oh! 256 "Tokens" is a technical term that might be confusing people, in AI a "Token" is basically a full word, so this is like saying "the limit is 256 words" but then a word is say maybe 5 characters on avg so that would mean 1300 characters

@midjourney @jadenitripp quick question, it says on the model up to 1300. here you’re saying it’s 256? does that mean anything in between is tweaked by MJ?

midjourney v8 ongoing testing: For some time now I am exploring how "venus figurines" or "female fertility figurines" transcribe into virtual A.I. photography of such women via MJ. Midjourney v7 did a great job when i tested back in May 2025. But v8 seems to have some kind of gender confusion going on with stone age women... v7 images in comments PROMPT in ALT.

@midjourney @laf131 Just throw an error and say my prompt is too long. Don't submit it. Some post-gen analysis of what is ignored would be good too.

@midjourney @laf131 It would be also great to know how to make all the prompt make appear in the generation... I tried to add characters after defining the scene and does not work.

@midjourney @laf131 Might be worth notifying the user you are doing that so they can identify which deterministic descriptors are working best for them

To our knowledge we're the only major image model that doesn't totally rewrite your prompts with a LLM before going into the system! Do you have a preference for how our system should behave if you put something that's too long into it? We find that most of the long prompts have details that have no impact on the image so it might be easier for most people to do our best to losslessly compress the prompt then let them know it happened etc.

AI companies should be funneling billions of dollars into vanity culture projects such as print magazines and free studios and basic income for visual artists

Midjourney V8 - This is the model everyone was shitting on. This is the model that had people saying that Midjourney is done for as a company. So first off.... 1) Wut?! 2) Did ya even try it?! Did ya try a wide variety of settings with it?? Different prompting? Cause it looked to me like y'all were on here calling it Shit 5 minutes after it was released....And I ain't no Midjourney Fanboi, I have my fair share of gripes with them. But that don't take away from the Fact (AKA my strong opinion, lol) that this V8 model is INCREDIBLE and FAR AHEAD of the competition in terms of aesthetics #aiart #midjourney
