@SenadoraJulie I think we agreed on the necessity to lower the prison population. I think our disagreement is on how to lower that population.

Building more prisons will not keep our communities safer, it will do the exact opposite. We should be investing in rehabilitating and reducing recidivism. Yet somehow, even during a budget crisis, our govt finds a way to build jails, but never fund healthcare and education.
