Grief makes you do odd things. I carry around the ziplock bag with his fur in it, refusing to put it down. I haven’t showered in 4 days, fearing I’ll wash off the last time I held him. His last poop in the litter box is still there and I can’t bear to clean it. I froze his last bowl of food that he didn’t finish. I feel like I’ve lost my mind along with my heart.

@MissGinaDarling @Andy93561892 The only real way to my understanding is doing a chest x-ray or ultrasound. Same as humans, the heart will work properly as it's enlarged until it hits a tipping point and suddenly doesn't. You'd have to image it to know.

I’m so angry and confused. My cat had his checkup, echo, and ultrasounds done two weeks ago and they said he was fine. Now he’s gone. I don’t understand. I just want to understand.

@swinginjazzcat We had xrays just this January during his annual. Im so angry. Why didn’t they see it? They said it was just asthma and prescribed him an inhaler

@MissGinaDarling Im sorry for your loss. The echo would show structural changes within the heart but you would need xrays to confirm congestive heart failure. I wonder what the cardiologists report looked like. Its possible for cats to get heart failure without any cardiomyopathy.
