On this issue, you eventually realise that not many people have been socialised to be thoughtful or to show reciprocity. It would do you a world of good to identify these people and titrate your efforts accordingly. Reserve full investment for those who meet you halfway.

This gist is crazy!! This girl accused this boy of taking her phone.. She created drama and got people to intervene, they started beating the boy and was about to give him jungle justice.. Some reasonable people among them then asked her to explain how he took her phone, that was when they discovered that she lied.. She was his girlfriend and the phone was the one he bought for her.. she broke up with him so he collected the phone back.. Not only that, he has been spending on her, feeding her and making sure she's comfortable.. But instead of being grateful, she accused him and allowed the angry youth to beat him.. Thank God they didn't do anything drastic to the boy.. What if they had lynched him? And guess what, they didn't touch her afterwards, they just ended everything like that..

This is a very common misunderstanding, and it is a dangerous one because it pushes people who have slipped into sin further away from Allah. To answer your question directly: Yes, a Muslim who drinks alcohol must still observe their daily prayers. You do not wait for 40 days. However, I also want us to unpack the Fiqh and the language of the Hadith so people can learn the mechanics of this ruling. The scholars operate on a very clear fundamental principle here: عدم القبول لا يستلزم عدم الصحة "Non-acceptance does not necessitate invalidity." This means there is a big difference between a deed being valid (Sihhah) and a deed carrying spiritual reward (Qabul). When the Hadith states the prayer is not "accepted," it means the person is denied the reward for those 40 days. However, the prayer is still completely valid and obligatory. By performing it, you fulfill your duty and drop the obligation from your neck. You do not have to make up those 40 days of prayers later. To buttress my point, let us look at what the giants of Fiqh said. Imam An-Nawawi addressed this specific issue in his book Sharh Sahih Muslim. He wrote: المراد بعدم القبول هنا نفي الثواب مع صحتها وسقوط الفرض بها "The meaning of non-acceptance here is the negation of reward, while the prayer remains valid and the obligation is discharged by it." Imam Al-Mubarakfuri also reinforced this in his book Tuhfat al-Ahwadhi, which is the explanation of Sunan At-Tirmidhi. He makes it clear that if someone drinks and decides to stop praying for 40 days because they think it is useless, they fall into a massive trap of Shaytan. Drinking alcohol is a major sin. But abandoning the obligatory prayer is a much greater catastrophe that touches the boundaries of disbelief. You do not cure one major sin by committing an even worse one. Having said this, I also want to address the 40 day timeline and the mercy of Tawbah. Some people think this is a permanent 40 day lockdown no matter what you do. This is incorrect. In the full narrations found in Sunan At-Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah, the Prophet followed up that warning by saying: فإن تاب تاب الله عليه "But if he repents, Allah will accept his repentance." What does this acceptance mean for the 40 days? The scholars anchor this on the famous authentic Hadith recorded by Ibn Majah: التائب من الذنب كمن لا ذنب له "The one who repents from sin is like one who has no sin." Imam As-Sindi, in his commentary on Sunan Ibn Majah (Hashiyat as-Sindi), explained the Prophet's statement "Allah will accept his repentance" by confirming that this includes the immediate acceptance of his prayers. Since sincere Tawbah wipes away the sin as if it never happened, the punishment attached to that sin, which is the withholding of reward, is also wiped away. If a person falls into the sin of drinking, feels profound remorse the very next morning, makes a sincere Tawbah, and begs for forgiveness, Allah wipes the slate clean and the reward for their prayers is restored immediately. So my brother, no matter what, never stop praying. You should show up on your prayer mat and use that same Salah to beg Allah to give you the strength to break the habit. Allah knows best.

Asking out of curiosity Muslims who take alcohol, do you pray after 40 days or pray daily since alcohol is haram and the Prophet SAW said: "Every intoxicant is forbidden and Allah has made a covenant that whoever drinks intoxicants, Allah will not accept his prayer for 40 days”
