Abū ‘Iyād Amjad Rafīq of Salafī Publications: A Recent History of Calculated “Retractions”.
A rebuttal of the claim that it is haddādiyyah to continue to clarify the errors of Abū ‘Iyād since he has already “clarified/retracted” from them.

Sh. ʿArafāt ibn Ḥasan was asked about a man who had his tooth removed & was told by the doctor not to rinse his mouth—how should he do wuḍū’?
He answered: “He leaves off rinsing the mouth, does wuḍū’ for the sound limbs, and then does tayammum in place of rinsing the mouth.”

The noble Shaykh, the faqīh, ʿArafāt ibn Ḥasan, was asked whether the sutrah (barrier in prayer) is obligatory or recommended. He answered: “It is a highly stressed Sunnah, so be keen upon it. This is the madhhab of the four jurist Imams.”

Indeed, be cautious — especially of those who use “decades of service” to justify wrongdoings and deflect sincere, warranted criticism of scholars.
Calling to “return to the scholars” isn’t a slogan — it’s a principle. If that reminder unsettles some, perhaps the issue isn’t with the call itself, but with what it exposes.
True Salafī students welcome correction and remain connected to the scholars — in both word and deed.

The Ruling of Taking Knowledge from The One Who Used to be Upon Uprightness but Then Deviated — Part 1
Al-ʿAllāmah S͟hayk͟h Muqbil ibn Hādī Al-Wādiʿī, may Allāh have mercy on him, was asked the following question:
Question: Those who were regarded as being upon the correct methodology, then deviated from it, is it permissible for us to listen to their recordings, read their earlier writings, and attend their lectures?
Answer: I do not advise reading their books nor listening to their recordings. I am impressed by a profound statement of S͟hayk͟hul-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allah have mercy on him, who said: “if Allāh had not brought forth Al-Buk͟hārī and Muslim, He would not have allowed His religion to be lost.”
Allāh, Glorified and Exalted, has preserved the religion. Allāh says:
“Indeed, it is We who have sent down the Reminder, and indeed, We will preserve it.”
So I advise keeping away from their books, recordings, and attending their lectures. They themselves are in need of being called back, to return to the Book of Allāh and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allāh, may Allāh raise his rank and grant him peace, and to repent to Allāh for what occurred from them in the Gulf issue and other matters.

The Ruling of Taking Knowledge from The One Who Used to be Upon Uprightness but Then Deviated — Part 2
Al-ʿAllāmah Rabīʿ Al-Madk͟halī, may Allāh have mercy on him, was asked the following question:
Question: Some of those who have been criticised had authored books. So some people ask: can benefit be taken from their works written before criticism arose against them and before their deviation from the Salafi methodology became apparent, or not?
Answer: In the name of Allāh, the Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy.
All praise is for Allāh, and may peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allāh, his family, his companions, and those who follow his guidance. To proceed:
In answering this question, I say: if the person you mentioned has writings that were upon the methodology of the righteous salaf in creed, daʿwah, and manhaj, free from blemish, and then later deviated, then his deviation must be examined. If it is a slip from the slips of scholars, those for whom repentance and return to the truth is hoped, then such a slip is overlooked, good is hoped for him, and patience is exercised with him.
But if his evil spreads, intensifies, and he persists arrogantly, refusing to return to what is correct, then among his punishments is that the truth is no longer accepted from him. As some of the Salaf said: “from the punishment of the people of innovation is that their truthfulness is not accepted.”
We are in no need of such individuals, for we have the Book of Allāh, the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allāh, may Allāh raise his rank and grant him peace, and the vast, rich legacy left by our predecessors in all fields; creed, methodology, manners, lawful and unlawful, and the like.
People are quick to rush towards what is new, though that very novelty may conceal trials and ruin.
So hold firmly, first and foremost, to the Book of Allāh and the Sunnah of His Messenger, may Allāh raise his rank and grant him peace; in them is guidance, in them is light, and in them is sufficiency and richness.
Then to the narrations of the Salaf, which revolve around these two foundations, the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger, may Allāh raise his rank and grant him peace, affirming people upon their meanings in creed and methodology. And they are abundant, exceedingly so.
So draw your knowledge from them, all praise is for Allāh. For there is fear that a student may be snatched away by those who outwardly displayed the Salafī manhaj, then Allāh exposed their reality and uncovered their intentions.
This has occurred often in our time: people who appeared to be upon the Salafī methodology, then as days passed and events unfolded, they were exposed. We do not know, and Allāh knows best, whether they were truly convinced of the Salafī path or merely concealing their reality. Allāh knows their true state.
Such people, in my view, are to be dispensed with. No regret is to be felt over them or what they offered. We have what suffices and enriches us, all praise is for Allāh.
And I ask Allāh, the Most High, to keep us and you firm upon the truth, and to protect us and you from trials, both apparent and hidden. Indeed, our Lord is All-Hearing of supplication. And may Allāh send peace and blessings upon our Prophet Muḥammad, his family, and his companions.
