Yesterday, @MoHCCZim Minister, Dr D.T. Mombeshora officiated at Zimbabwe’s First Health Adaptation Action Plan (H-NAP) stakeholder consultative meeting to mark the launch of the Climate Vulnerability and Adaptation (V&A) Process in Harare. In his address he noted that: ●Climate change is driving shifts in disease patterns, increasing the burden of vector borne and water borne diseases, exacerbating malnutrition, and placing immense pressure on already stretched health systems. Above all, it is disproportionately affecting the most vulnerable such as women, children and the elderly. ●Zimbabwe aligns itself with the global agenda on Climate and Health, as articulated through the World Health Assembly and guided by the World Health Organization’s framework on climate resilient and environmentally sustainable health systems. This agenda calls on all Member States to integrate health into climate policies, strengthen surveillance and early warning systems, and invest in resilient infrastructure and workforce capacity. ●Health outcomes are shaped by actions in agriculture, water and sanitation, energy, urban planning, disaster risk management and finance. As such, building climate resilient health systems requires strong multi-sectoral coordination, shared accountability and integrated planning. @WHO_Zimbabwe @UNFPA_Zimbabwe @AfricaCDC

Day 2: The #NationalBridgingWorkshop continues with a strong focus on collective action. Participants are bringing diverse sectors together to critically review and shape the future of the nation’s #OneHealth approach. By identifying key areas for improvement and refining strategies, the group is working to close gaps and sharpen the collective response to health threats. This shift from silos to synergy ensures a stronger, more integrated health system for humans, animals and the environment.#HealthForAll @WHO_Zimbabwe @FAOZimbabwe @MoLAFWRD_Zim @EMAeep @WOAH @MinOECW @africa_woah

The Young Mentor Mothers (YMM) program, under the #Together4SRHR initiative, is transforming how young people access healthcare services. By using a peer-led model, YMMs are bridging the gap between communities and healthcare facilities, making Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) information and services more accessible, friendly and stigma free. Because young mothers are supported by those who share their lived experiences, they are more confident in seeking care and making informed health decisions for themselves and their babies. #HealthForAll @zvandiri @UNICEFZIMBABWE @UNFPA_Zimbabwe @WHO_Zimbabwe @UNAIDSZimbabwe @YPNZimbabwe

@MoHCCZim Minister Hon.Dr D.T. Mombeshora in his address during an Engagement Forum with Zimbabwean Health Professionals in the Diaspora during the UK–Zimbabwe Health Sector Reception noted that: ●His presence there reflects the leadership approach of His Excellency, President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, often referred to as “The Listening President.” This visit is part of Government’s effort to engage Zimbabweans wherever they are — to listen to ideas, understand perspectives, and strengthen partnerships that contribute to national development. Leaving no place and no one behind. ●Zimbabwe’s health sector is currently undergoing an important phase of transformation. As we move toward the implementation of the NDS 2 and with it the National Health Strategy 2026–2030, our goal is to build a modern, resilient, and people-centred health system that supports Zimbabwe’s broader vision of becoming an upper-middle-income economy by 2030. ●Set priorities include strengthening the health workforce, improving the quality of services, modernising infrastructure and equipment, expanding digital health solutions, strengthening medicines supply chains, and ensuring more sustainable financing for health. ●The Zimbabwean diaspora remains one of our greatest national assets. The skills, experience, and innovations you are exposed to every day are extremely valuable to Zimbabwe. ● Their contributions may come in many forms: mentorship of young clinicians, short-term clinical missions, institutional partnerships between hospitals and universities, telemedicine platforms, collaborative research, and innovations that improve service delivery. ● Some of them were also thinking about investing in health facilities or technologies — please know that the Ministry of Health will certainly welcome that conversation. ● Government recognises that collaboration must be supported by a conducive environment. As part of the whole-of-government approach, Zimbabwe is implementing reforms aimed at improving the ease of doing business. ●Zimbabweans are known for their resilience and ingenuity, but Zimbabwe needs their expertise, ideas and partnerships. ● The Government of Zimbabwe values its diaspora immensely and that they remain an important part of our national development journey, and together we can build a stronger and more responsive health system for our people. @HeraldZimbabwe @UNFPA_Zimbabwe @ZBCNewsonline @WHO_Zimbabwe
