After a 22yr racing career on just about anything with wheels, Mike Hailwood succumbed to his injuries sustained in a road crash while popping out for Fish and Chips with his kids. Tragically his daughter died at the scene but his son survived with minor injuries #OTD 1981. #RIP

Although somewhat forgotten today, Adrienne Bolland was a major figure in the early days of aviation. In 1921, she made the first-ever flight by a woman across the Andes Mountains, in a fragile 80-horsepower Caudron G3. During World War II, she was a member of the Resistance.
