The Walleye are pressing hard near the midpoint of the third period but Jonsson has been up to the challenge. Toledo down 3-1 with 9:45 left in regulation. Komets with a 35-31 edge in shots. @ToledoWalleye

Smereck is back on the Fort Wayne bench.

Not good here. Fort Wayne D Jalen Smereck has to be helped off the ice. The former Walleye d-man was clutching his knee. Looked like a non-contact injury. Komets up 3-1.

At the game’s midpoint the @ToledoWalleye are being outshot 25-14 and trail 2-0.

Riley Funk gets the @ToledoWalleye on the board with a goal with 7:46 left in the second. Greasy goal. Funk scores on his own rebound. Dylan Moulton had the assist.

The @ToledoWalleye did not have a shot over the final 12:23 of the first period. And then only had three over the first 8:10 of the second period. In Toledo's opening round win over Bloomington, the Walleye averaged 35 shots per game and held the Bison to just 22.3.

Fort Wayne now has a 21-9 edge in shots and a 2-0 lead early in the second period.

Walleye will have to kill off yet another penalty just 32 seconds into the second period, down 2-0.

Fort Wayne was 1 of 3 on the power play in the first period and Toledo was 0 of 3.
