I've been thinking about the Irish Gold Cup. I'd love to know If Gaelic Warrior would have outstayed Fact To File had the race been over 3m 2.5f that day. What race do we think Fact To File will run in at next year's Fez assuming there is sufficient dig in the ground? I wonder if Majborough could slot into the Ryanair given it's on the less-turning New Course (Willie could have the top 3 in the market for the Champion Chase anyway!). Then Fact To File could finally be given a chance over the full Gold Cup trip? He'll be 10 by then though so almost certainly past his very best but he'd be a fascinating runner.

He's a frustrating horse, Majborough isn't he. It's looking like soft ground could be a must for him. If Willie can sort him out, then he could still win a big one at the Fez. He wouldn't be the first horse to mellow and race more kindly as he matures. I'm not holding my breath, though. I'm wondering how he would go in a Champion Hurdle, but you'd still have the problem of running on the Old Course.

@Moray_Smith I think end of the day, Majborough cant jump well enough around Cheltenham on decent ground so dont think he'll ever win owt there. FTF should have been in the gold cup this year and I dont think he'll win at the festival again now either.

I'm in the "need for speed" camp in the Arkle so not sure about Kabral Du Mathan, but with the news that Dan is thinking Champion Hurdle for Mydaddypaddy it does leave a nice spot for KDM. Dan hasn't tried the post wind op, 6yo, version of him back at two miles since he's had him, but at 12/1 for the Arkle it's tempting to have a nibble now, because he could go off an awful lot shorter.

@StuartAkister @Moray_Smith Based on the sectional break downs I’ll have to find it again but OPS was one of the quickest at the festival over 2 mile hurdles I know old vs new track is different but still seems he’s much quicker then people think

@Moray_Smith I backed him at 100/1 before his run over hurdles he has the right age 9 he will defo get home and his jumping is usually rock solid- I thought he would get a slightly better mark that he did tho given then time of and his first run over fences but he will give me a go E/W

Not sure that I want to risk upsetting Shane, Will! I've had bits and pieces each-way on Favori De Champdou before and after the cross-country. He lacks the class (and is surely too old) to win the race, but I can see him running a nice race and challenging for the places. Barring accidents, my squad is pretty well set now. Iroko is the team captain, vice captain and sponge man!

I'm not rushing in at 25/1, Darren. He'd want to be beating a 14yo 132 horse, receiving weight off it. I take the stable form point and the hurdle run, but he was very well held by Grangeclare West when the stable was in better form at Fairyhouse. Everything has a price, but 25s wouldn't tempt me.

@Moray_Smith Need to get big Gerri on that list moray stable rank out of form and I imagine this has been his target all year and that hurdles run doesn’t look to shabby now
