Gun violence is preventable.  I led City Council to allocate funds for a non-fatal shooting task force. Using less than 1% of MPD’s budget, the task force is delivering strong results in just a month. City Council invests resources strategically to improve public safety for all.

The City Council is the closest connection to the community. Last week, the elected leadership of the City Council spoke about the State of the City and our vision for the coming year: getting back to basics by passing policies that support working families.

Mayor Frey has vetoed the Pause Evictions, Save Lives Ordinance that would have temporarily slowed evictions to protect families impacted by Operation Metro Surge.  The Mayor’s veto will contribute to mass evictions of the same families targeted by the Trump administration.
