I know that no agreement, no ceasefire, and no talk of peace will ever bring back the innocent face of my child, Rakan. Nor will my daughter, Layan, ever have the chance to live those moments with her brother in this life.
This was the greatest crime the occupation committed against my family… but it did not kill Rakan alone. It has killed more than 40,000 children, and behind every child is a family carrying the same pain I carry today, the same emptiness that can never be filled.
This sorrow will never leave us. It will continue to haunt every detail of our days and memories, because the tragedy is still ongoing, and because loss here never stops…

“When she left, she took my peace and all the joy with her”
#NAKBA78 testimony of Wesam Hamada, the mother of Hind Rajab
“Do you know what it feels like when your child begs you to save them from an Israeli tank, or from fear of death or because they witnessed their loved ones being shot before their eyes? That is exactly what I lived through as a mother. My child was executed with 355 bullets by the Israeli occupation army.
As a grieving Palestinian mother, I ask all of you as fathers, mothers, and human beings, can you imagine what it feels like for a mother when her child screams from endless terrifying nightmares? Can you imagine what it means for your child to be hungry and to draw food instead of eating it, and then fall asleep dreaming about it? Do you know what it means for a child to search for safety beneath your dress believing it can protect them from airstrikes?
Hind left behind an incredibly powerful message. And for a child to receive all this love means that God loved her deeply. I hope the world never forgets the children of Gaza, because they deserve life, they deserve education, and they deserve a better life than this.”

Hoping the blandest candidate possible wins, becomes PM then does the most boring but worthy shit possible. I only got into any of this because I wanted to improve society somewhat, and instead I’ve had to spend ten years trying to fathom out the inner workings of a snakepit.

Whom amongst us hasn’t sent the security services a secret dossier alleging a Times journalist is a Russian asset? A serious but understandable mishap that might befall any ambitious young man, whose only foible is an excess of zeal for hating leftist scum theguardian.com/politics/2026/…
