“Coulter Fussell: The Proving Ground,” recently highlighted by the NYT as one of “What to See This Spring at Museums Across the Country,” the exhibition brings national attention to Fussell’s “quilt-works.” Join us for an evening with the artist on Thursday, May 28 at 6 PM.

As part of the exhibition, “L.V. Hull: Love Is a Sensation,” join us for Building Toward on Saturday, May 2 at 11 AM, a homeownership workshop presented with HOPE Credit Union. The stability of homeownership was central to Hull’s ability to assert herself creatively.

What becomes of what we throw away? For Coulter Fussell, the answer begins with fabric assembled into works that feel both ancient and entirely new. Come see her exhibition on view now through June 14.

Come and gather in an intimate setting and enjoy a live performance within the galleries on April 7 as we become a place for music, reflection, and shared experience. This month’s Music in the City  features guitarist Tanja Mirić and mezzo-soprano Sarah Waters.

What becomes of what others overlook?  In our galleries Coulter Fussell and L.V. Hull each offer their own answer. Fussell’s layered quilt-works emerge from rescued fabric scraps, while Hull’s assemblages transform everyday objects into vibrant, immersive works of art.

Did you know that our “L.V. Hull: Love Is a Sensation” exhibition is inspired by the documentary Love Is a Sensation directed by exhibition co-curator, producer, and editor Yaphet L. Smith? If you haven’t already, make plans to attend this premiere screening on April 9.

We’re thrilled to welcome Jennifer Baughn as Fountainhead Curator. She brings an incredible depth of knowledge about Mississippi’s built environment, and we can’t wait to see her lead the restoration and reimagining of one of the state’s most iconic works of Modern design.

This spring, bring a piece of the Museum’s gardens home. The MMA Spring Plant Sale offers a curated selection of native plants, shrubs, and perennials suited to the Jackson landscape, with guidance from MMA Garden staff and Mississippi Master Gardeners. 📅 May 2
