To improve the client experience, the hospital introduced ATM style privacy booths with 3 dispensing points, allowing one client to receive medicines privately before the next enters. A simple innovation that has strengthened privacy & confidence in accessing care. #PeopleCentred

#Spotlight: During a facility feedback meeting in Fort Portal, @virikahospital shared how it addressed a key concern raised by RoC. Following the integration of health services, many clients felt uncomfortable collecting medicines at the dispensing window due to privacy concerns.

UGANET in the Field! Kyegegwa — Change begins when communities find their voice. Through the Uganda Refugee Resilience Initiative (URRI), UGANET conducted a two-day Collective Agency training in Kigambo Sub-county, equipping women and young people with leadership and advocacy skills to champion Climate-Smart Agriculture and sustainable Environmental and Natural Resource Management. Every conversation sparked new ideas, every shared experience strengthened confidence, and every participant took another step towards building more resilient communities and a healthier environment. One of the most inspiring moments came when a mixed group of women and youth presented a song highlighting the challenges of land access and ownership following the advocacy skills-building session. Their performance reflected the power of community voices in raising awareness and inspiring action on issues that matter most. #UGANET4SocialJustice #URRI

UGANET in the Field! Mbarara — Last week, our team concluded a Legal Aid Camp in Mugarutsya Village, Bubaare Sub-county, bringing justice closer to the community. Joined by the Magistrate from Bwizibwera Magistrate Court, we engaged community members on pressing issues including succession and inheritance, domestic violence, and child marriage and defilement. The Magistrate also encouraged the use of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in resolving marital, domestic, and customary disputes where appropriate. Earlier in the day, we also conducted a legal aid outreach at Rubindi Health Centre III, ensuring that more people could access legal information, guidance, and support. Every outreach is a step towards empowering communities with the knowledge and services they need to protect their rights and seek justice. #UGANET4SocialJustice

UGANET IN THE FIELD | Mbarara District For a whole week, UGANET's legal aid team has been engaging communities across Mbarara District, working alongside the District Probation Officer, the Senior Community Development Officer, the Secretary for Social Services, and other justice sector partners to expand access to justice. Community dialogues in Nyabisirira Town Council highlighted the growing challenge of intimate partner violence, with residents linking many cases to household conflicts over income earned during the coffee harvesting season. These conversations provided an important opportunity to discuss the root causes of violence, strengthen community awareness, and promote available support services. The outreach concluded at Kariro Health Centre II in Rubindi Sub-county, where the team was joined by a State Attorney from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), who shared insights on the role of the ODPP in helping communities access justice. Through collaboration and community engagement, UGANET continues to strengthen pathways to legal support and protection for those who need it most. #UGANET4SocialJustice

This Week at UGANET | Mbarara Legal Aid Camp Our legal team is on the ground in Mbarara District, expanding access to justice through community legal aid and rights awareness. Day one began at Kagongi Health Centre III, where we sensitized and provided legal support to people living with HIV. Key concerns included discrimination and child neglect. We reached 53 people and handled 6 legal cases. Later, we engaged the Kagongi Sub-county community in a legal awareness session attended by over 200 community members. Common issues raised included domestic violence, inheritance disputes, and land conflicts, with our team providing support on 14 legal cases. A concerning trend also emerged: some women are reportedly paying off debts through transactional sex, a practice contributing to increased HIV vulnerability in the area. This highlights the urgent need for integrated legal, social, and public health interventions. We are pleased to be joined in the field by Ms. Kamakune Edith, TASO Human Rights Technical Advisor, as we continue advancing access to justice and protecting the rights of vulnerable communities. #UGANET4SocialJustice
